Renewable Energy Practice Leader, Asia

This role is responsible for leading Aon’s Renewable Energy business across Asia, shaping client strategy, strengthening Aon’s market position, and delivering sustained profitable growth. The role provides leadership across client engagement, business development, insurer relationships, solution delivery, and team capability, while ensuring alignment with Aon’s broader Natural Resources strategy, Aon United priorities, and governance standards.

What the day will look like

• Lead Aon’s Renewable Energy business across Asia, setting the strategic direction for growth, client engagement, market positioning, and solution delivery across the sector.
• Serve as a senior advisor to clients, prospects, and key stakeholders by designing and delivering risk, insurance, and broking solutions for complex Renewable Energy accounts and projects.
• Develop and execute business and operating plans aligned to regional and global objectives, with clear accountability for portfolio performance, profitable growth, retention, and long-term client value.
• Build and maintain senior relationships with clients, prospects, insurers, and other key partners, including legal advisers, lenders, and financing stakeholders, to support new business generation and effective client delivery.
• Partner with regional, country, and global Aon teams to bring the full breadth of Aon capabilities to the Renewable Energy sector, create cross-solution opportunities, and strengthen Aon’s client leadership and market proposition across Asia.
• Work closely with broking teams to define and execute client-specific broking strategies for major accounts, while establishing practical guidelines and consistent standards for mid-tier clients.
• Support regional sales initiatives in partnership with Natural Resources colleagues, including targeted campaigns, sector engagement activity, seminars, and initiatives that enhance commercial outcomes and measurable return on investment.
• Provide sector leadership through the development of market insight, thought leadership, technical expertise, and practical tools that support client conversations, colleague development, and high-quality RFP and proposal responses.
• Serve as Asia Representative on Global Renewable Energy Leadership Team and maintain strong connectivity with regional peers and peers of the Global Broking Centre and Singapore Facultative Broking, as well as the broader Natural Resources leadership community to share best practice, align priorities, and leverage insights from across the Aon network.
• Act as a key internal source of expertise on Renewable Energy market trends, pricing dynamics, underwriting developments, and emerging sector issues relevant to clients and colleagues across Asia.
• Lead capability building across the practice through mentoring, coaching, knowledge sharing, training, and the identification, recruitment, and development of high-potential talent.
• Drive disciplined execution across work in progress, pipeline management, escalation handling, and process delivery, ensuring strong operational oversight and timely resolution of technical or commercial issues.
• Oversee periodic reporting to leadership on financial performance, portfolio activity, targets, and other agreed management metrics, and ensure regular communication on priorities and progress.
• Assess and advance structured portfolio solution strategies, facilities, and other scalable approaches in partnership with broking teams and relevant stakeholders where these support client outcomes and business growth.
• Support claims advocacy and broader Natural Resources opportunities where required, contributing expertise and leadership to priority initiatives across the wider business.
• Ensure all client activity is delivered in accordance with Aon systems, compliance and transparency standards, internal policies, and applicable MAS regulatory requirements.
• Undertake any additional responsibilities reasonably assigned by the Company from time to time.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

• Significant experience in Renewable Energy, Natural Resources, or complex specialty lines within insurance, broking, or risk advisory.
• Strong track record in client leadership, business development, and delivery of commercial outcomes across complex accounts and projects.
• Deep understanding of insurer engagement, placement strategy, and the structuring of risk transfer solutions for large or technically challenging programmes.
• Proven ability to operate effectively across a regional matrix environment, building alignment across country, regional, and global stakeholders.
• Strong people leadership capability, including coaching, mentoring, team development, and succession planning.
• Commercially minded, strategically oriented, and comfortable engaging with senior clients, market partners, and internal leadership.
• High level of professional judgment, integrity, and discipline in managing governance, compliance, and regulatory responsibilities.
