Job summary

Triton AI is seeking a Vessel IT Engineer to provide remote L2/L3 support to ships, captains and crews, ensuring reliable onboard IT connectivity.

You will diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, network and satellite‑communication issues, maintain onboard infrastructure, and collaborate with international teams on cybersecurity and IT improvements. On‑call rotation ensures 24/7 vessel support.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years of IT infrastructure, technical support or systems‑engineering experience within maritime.
• Vessel IT or maritime technology support experience is highly regarded.
• Hands‑on onsite infrastructure support, not cloud‑first.
• Strong troubleshooting across servers, networks, hardware, connectivity and end‑user systems.
• Experience handling L2 escalations; L3 issues advantageous.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper‑V, switches, firewalls, Wi‑Fi, UPS, storage and backup.
• Cybersecurity experience is preferred.
• Able to communicate remotely with multinational ship crews.
• Willingness for 24/7 on-call support.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote L2 and L3 support to vessels, captains and crew.
• Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, network and communication issues remotely.
• Maintain onboard IT infrastructure across the vessel fleet.
• Support vessel networks, servers, workstations, Wi‑Fi, firewalls, switches, UPS, storage and backups.
• Install and optimise Windows environments including Windows Server, Windows 10, M365, AD and Hyper‑V.
• Monitor system performance, connectivity and reliability onboard.
• Perform remote system, security and network updates or upgrades.
• Coordinate with captains, crew, vendors and IT teams on troubleshooting.
• Participate in improvements to vessel IT infrastructure and processes.
• Provide after‑hours and weekend on‑call support.
• Board vessels for IT audits or ad‑hoc work when required.
