Job summary

The GMP Group is seeking a technician to perform rack cabling and cable installation in our production environment. You will follow technical drawings and work instructions to route and secure cables within server racks, performing basic checks for proper connections and installation.

The role requires 1–2 years of cabling or related experience, Nitec/Higher Nitec, and able to work in a production setting with possible ladder use, standing for extended periods, and shift work including night

Qualifications

• Candidate must have 1–2 years of relevant experience in cabling, electrical, electronics, or similar environments.
• Technical reading ability for drawings and work instructions is required.
• Production setting experience with good safety practices is preferred.
• Proactive with 5S housekeeping and workplace cleanliness.

Responsibilities

• Perform rack cabling and cable installation according to drawings and specs.
• Route and secure cables in server racks and ensure proper management.
• Conduct basic checks to verify correct connections and installation.
• Maintain 5S standards and comply with safety procedures.
• Support shift work and related production duties as assigned.

About the role

This role involves performing rack cabling and cable installation according to technical drawings, work instructions and specifications. You will route, arrange and secure cables within server racks to ensure proper installation and cable management, and perform basic checks to ensure cables are correctly connected and installed.

• Maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards within the work area
• Follow workplace safety procedures, including safe practices when working at heights
• Perform other cabling and production-related duties as assigned
• Work on shifts as required

About you

• Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in cabling, electrical, electronics, server assembly, manufacturing or a related environment
• Minimum Nitec, Higher Nitec, vocational or equivalent technical qualification
• Good hand dexterity and attention to detail for cable routing and installation
• Able to read and follow basic technical drawings and work instructions
• Able to work in a production environment involving prolonged standing and occasional ladder use/working at heights
• Able to handle and move items of up to 50 lbs (approximately 23 kg) in accordance with workplace safety requirements
• Basic computer skills
