Job summary

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evaluate mechanical systems for EDM machines, including motion drive systems, machine structures and mechanisms, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
• Support prototype assembly, system integration, commissioning, and testing during product development.
• Analyze test results and implement design improvements or corrective actions to enhance machine performance and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with electrical, software, manufacturing, and application engineering teams to resolve technical issues and support cross-functional projects.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, test reports, design change records, and technical documents.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, QEHS requirements, and engineering processes.
• Provide technical support to manufacturing, service, and customer support teams as required.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.

The Mechanical Engineer (EDM) is responsible for the design, development, testing, and validation of mechanical systems for Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM). This role supports Makino Asia's R&D objectives by delivering reliable, high-performance, and safe mechanical designs that meet product quality, regulatory, and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and evaluate mechanical systems for EDM machines, including motion drive systems, machine structures and mechanisms, as well as pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
• Support prototype assembly, system integration, commissioning, and testing activities during the product development phase.
• Analyze test results and implement design improvements or corrective actions to enhance machine performance, reliability, stability, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate closely with electrical, software, manufacturing, and application engineering teams to resolve technical issues and support cross-functional projects.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including mechanical drawings, engineering specifications, test reports, design change records, and technical documents.
• Ensure compliance with Makino's quality standards, engineering processes, and QEHS requirements.
• Provide technical and engineering support to manufacturing, service, and customer support teams when required.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and engineering processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, precision machinery, and motion control mechanisms.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Good teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
• Willingness to travel for on-site customer support, machine commissioning, and service activities when required.
