BD is seeking an enthusiastic R&D Engineer for a 12-month fixed-term contract to drive product development from concept to commercialization. You will work with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, and Operations to translate requirements into practical engineering solutions.

The role offers exposure to a highly regulated medical device environment, with responsibilities spanning design verification, testing, data analysis, and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with design controls, ISO 13485, FDA regulations, or regulated industries is advantageous.

  • Support new product development projects from concept through commercialization.
  • Translate customer, clinical, and product performance requirements into engineering solutions.
  • Design, plan, and execute experiments to evaluate product performance and concepts.

While permanency is not guaranteed, the role offers valuable industry exposure, professional development, and opportunities to build your network within a global organization.Key ResponsibilitiesAs part of the Product Development team, you will:Support new product development projects and engineering initiatives from concept through commercialization.Translate customer, clinical, and product performance requirements into practical engineering solutions.Design, plan, and execute experiments to evaluate product performance and design concepts.Analyze technical data and communicate findings through technical reports and presentations.Support the development and maintenance of product specifications, manufacturing specifications, and engineering change documentation.Contribute to design verification activities, risk assessments, and product validation efforts.Collaborate with manufacturing teams to understand and support molding, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and other production processes.Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design-to-Cost principles to optimize product performance and commercial viability.Maintain project documentation and contribute to Design History Files (DHF) in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.Support intellectual property development by documenting technical findings, innovative concepts, and potential patent opportunities.Provide technical support to manufacturing and business teams as required.Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA Quality System Regulations, and internal product development processes.Contribute to a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace.Support continuous improvement and innovation initiatives across the organization.Travel occasionally as required by project needs.What We Are Looking ForRequired QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within cross-functional teams.Passion for innovation, technology, and product development.Preferred QualificationsPrior internship, project, or industry experience in product development, manufacturing, engineering, or medical devices.Familiarity with engineering testing, data analysis, and technical documentation.Understanding of design controls, risk management, ISO 13485, FDA regulations, or regulated industries is advantageous.Experience with CAD, statistical analysis tools, or laboratory testing environments is a plus.Who Should Apply?This opportunity is ideal for:Fresh Engineering Graduates seeking entry into Medical Device R&D.Engineers with 1 to 5 years of experience looking to expand into Product Development.Manufacturing, Process, Product, or Quality Engineers interested in transitioning into R&D.Candidates passionate about healthcare technology and innovation.About BDAt BD, you'll work with passionate colleagues who are dedicated to advancing healthcare through innovation.
