Job summary

Nomura seeks an Associate Software Engineer in Singapore to develop and maintain Python-based applications, data pipelines, and automation tools supporting Nomura’s business functions. Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Software Engineer in the financial sector with front end development using React or similar frameworks for UI development.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in Python scripting with a minimum of 2 years in production environments.
• Experience with data manipulation, strong expertise in Pandas for data transformation, cleaning, and analysis.
• Working knowledge of Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience with libraries like Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Plotly to create clear visualizations.
• SQL: Proficiency in database querying and data extraction (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle).
• Testing & Documentation: Experience with unit testing frameworks (e.g., pytest, unittest) and writing maintainable code documentation.
• HTML Email Generation: Experience converting Pandas DataFrames to HTML format and sending formatted email reports.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to debug and optimize code.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain Python-based applications and data processing pipelines for financial data workflows.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) using Pandas, ensuring data integrity and quality.
• Design and implement automated reporting systems, including: converting Pandas DataFrames to HTML for email distribution and integration with email automation tools.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, adhering to team standards and version control (Git).
• Conduct unit testing (e.g., pytest, unittest) and participate in code reviews to maintain high-quality outputs.
• Create insightful data visualizations (e.g., Matplotlib, Seaborn, Plotly) to communicate trends and insights to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Work within Agile/Scrum teams to deliver projects on time and within scope.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies (e.g., AI-assisted tools, cloud platforms) to drive innovation.
