Job summary

Jalan Besar Town Council seeks a seasoned Public Relations Manager to direct its communications framework and resident engagement strategy. You will safeguard the council’s public standing, strengthen ties with residents and community partners, and lead a team in executing strategic outreach.

You will oversee multi-channel public communications, manage municipal issue responses, and support governance functions.

Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or equivalent.
Minimum 3 years of experience in PR or corporate communications, preferably in public sector or township management.
Strong track record in crisis management, media relations, and issue mitigation.
Excellent command of written and spoken English with local sensitivity; fluency in a second language is a plus.
Proven leadership capabilities in guiding teams and managing departmental budgets.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement communications strategy to build public trust and promote township initiatives.
Lead community outreach with residents, Grassroots Organisations, Government Agencies, and advisory groups.
Oversee editorial planning and digital content across newsletters, reports, notices, and social channels.
Manage media inquiries, draft press statements, and monitor coverage for reputational issues.
Provide secretariat support to the Communications Committee and oversee budgets and vendors.
