Job summary

Jalan Besar Town Council seeks a seasoned Public Relations Manager to direct its communications framework and resident engagement strategy. You will safeguard the council’s public standing, strengthen ties with residents and community partners, and lead a team in executing strategic outreach.

You will oversee multi-channel public communications, manage municipal issue responses, and support governance functions.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Mass Communications, Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in PR or corporate communications, preferably in public sector or township management.
• Strong track record in crisis management, media relations, and issue mitigation.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English with local sensitivity; fluency in a second language is a plus.
• Proven leadership capabilities in guiding teams and managing departmental budgets.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement communications strategy to build public trust and promote township initiatives.
• Lead community outreach with residents, Grassroots Organisations, Government Agencies, and advisory groups.
• Oversee editorial planning and digital content across newsletters, reports, notices, and social channels.
• Manage media inquiries, draft press statements, and monitor coverage for reputational issues.
• Provide secretariat support to the Communications Committee and oversee budgets and vendors.
