We are currently looking for a detail-oriented, energetic, and proactive Public Area Supervisor to join our Housekeeping team.
As the Public Area Supervisor, you will lead and oversee the daily operations of the Public Area team within the Housekeeping Department.
You will ensure that all front-of-house public spaces (lobbies, entrances, corridors, elevators, public restrooms) and back-of-house staff areas maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic presentation.
Key Responsibilities
Supervision & Daily Operations:
- Plan, assign, and direct the daily tasks of Public Area Attendants.
- Conduct rigorous daily inspections of the main lobby, guest corridors, public restrooms, elevators, executive offices, locker rooms, and exterior entrance walkways.
- Ensure routine and periodic deep cleaning schedules (floor scrubbing, carpet shampooing, marble polishing, glass cleaning) are strictly executed.
Quality Control & Standards:
- Maintain and uphold cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation standards across all non-guestroom public zones.
- Promptly identify and log maintenance issues (lighting, furniture wear, wall marks) via the hotel management system and follow up with Engineering.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Train, mentor, and motivate Public Area Attendants on standard operating procedures (SOPs), chemical handling, and heavy equipment operation.
- Assist the Executive Housekeeper with shift scheduling, performance evaluations, and attendance tracking.
Inventory & Equipment Management:
- Oversee cleaning equipment maintenance (buffers, vacuum cleaners, extractors) to ensure safe operational condition.
- Monitor inventory of cleaning chemicals, guest amenities in public areas, and cleaning tools; coordinate restocking to control operational costs.
Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce strict adherence to Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) guidelines, COSHH/SDS chemical safety protocols, and proper PPE usage.
- Respond swiftly to urgent clean-up requests or guest inquiries in public zones with professionalism and efficiency.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience in hotel housekeeping, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Technical Skills: Sound knowledge of cleaning techniques, floor care maintenance (carpet, marble, tile), and operation of heavy-duty industrial cleaning machinery.
- Leadership: Strong team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-Oriented: Exceptional eye for detail and commitment to high aesthetic and hygiene standards.
- Flexibility: Ability to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, night shifts, weekends, and public holidays as operational needs require.
