Job summary

The Singapore Institute of Technology is seeking a research staff member to join an industry innovation project focused on explosions and impacts on thin steel plates. You will work within a research team and contribute to applied learning aligned with industry demands.

You will coordinate blast and impact tests, run numerical simulations with ABAQUS/LS-DYNA/Radioss, perform risk assessments, and communicate results to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Competence in Finite Element simulations and experimental work.
• Degree in an engineering discipline; higher degrees advantageous.
• Knowledge of shock mechanics and protection engineering helpful.
• Experience with advanced FEM software (ABAQUS, LS-DYNA, Radioss or equivalent).
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and manage the research project with PI/Co-PI and team to meet deliverables.
• Coordinate collaborators and vendors for blast and impact tests.
• Conduct numerical simulations to advance understanding and calibrate models.
• Carry out risk assessments and ensure safety compliance.
• Communicate results to stakeholders and document findings.
• Support related lab tasks and maintain equipment as needed.
