Job summary

SESTO Robotics in Singapore is seeking a hands-on Project Systems Engineer to serve as the technical lead on multidisciplinary automation deployments. You will own system solution design across AMRs and related infrastructure, coordinating with clients, vendors, and site operators.

The role requires 5+ years in systems integration and strong knowledge of IP networking and industrial protocols. This full-time position offers SGD 6,500–8,000 monthly, with a performance bonus structure and AWS,

Qualifications

• Authored system specs, FDS, SRS or ICD personally.
• Resolved a complex cross-subsystem fault through structured fault isolation.
• Willingness to work onsite and coordinate with operators, IT, electrical contractors and vendors.
• Translate ambiguous customer requirements into explicit acceptance criteria.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical solution design across mobile equipment, PLC stations, doors, lifts, networks, and IT/OT systems.
• Convert requirements into FDS, interface matrices, diagrams, and test criteria.
• Run interface workshops with clients, vendors, and contractors to define boundaries and error-recovery.
• Configure communications via REST/MQTT, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, Profinet, and digital I/O.
• Perform cycle time analyses, capacity studies, and availability planning.
• Support FAT, SAT, and onsite cross-subsystem troubleshooting.

Our core focus is deep systems integration—connecting fleet software, station interfaces, automated doors, lifts, PLC controls, and customer IT/OT infrastructure into seamless, operational systems.

The Role

• We are seeking a hands-on, accountable Project Systems Engineer to serve as the technical lead on multidisciplinary automation deployments.
• We welcome candidates from diverse systems integration backgrounds including industrial automation, warehouse/intralogistics, airport baggage handling, material handling, building management systems (BMS), or smart infrastructure. You do not need prior robotics experience; we value strong systems discipline, technical document ownership, and complex integration capability above specific product domain history.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must be able to demonstrate:

• Authored Documentation: You have personally authored or owned system specifications, Functional Design Specifications (FDS), System Requirements Specifications (SRS), or Interface Control Documents (ICD)—not merely reviewed or maintained ones.
• Root Cause Problem-Solving: You can walk us through at least one complex, cross-subsystem failure you personally isolated and resolved using structured fault isolation.
• Onsite Communication & Fieldwork: You are comfortable working onsite and effectively communicating across diverse groups—including site operators, IT teams, electrical contractors, vendors, and engineering managers.
• Clarity & Ambiguity Resolution: You write clearly and can turn ambiguous customer requirements or operational workflows into explicit, testable decisions and acceptance criteria.

Key Responsibilities

• System Solution Ownership: Lead technical solution design across mobile equipment, PLC-controlled stations, automated doors, lifts, wireless networks, and customer IT/OT systems.
• Requirements & Specification: Convert user requirements and complex operational workflows into FDS, interface matrices, sequence/state diagrams, and verifiable test criteria.
• Interface Management: Run technical interface workshops with clients, vendors, and contractors to clarify boundary conditions, handshakes, timeouts, and error-recovery modes.
• Integration Literacy: Configure and manage communications using APIs (REST/MQTT), industrial protocols (Modbus TCP, OPC UA, Profinet), or digital I/O.
• Capacity & Throughput Sizing: Conduct cycle time analyses, capacity studies, and operational availability planning considering physical constraints and bottlenecks.
• Site Commissioning Support: Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and cross-subsystem troubleshooting onsite.

Qualifications & Core Competencies

• Education: Degree or Diploma in Systems, Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Automation Engineering (or equivalent applied experience).
• Experience: 5+ years in systems integration, complex electromechanical projects, industrial controls, or intralogistics.
• IT/OT Network Literacy: Solid working knowledge of IP networking (VLANs, firewalls), server environments (Linux/Windows), databases, and industrial communication protocols.
