Job summary

Hup Huat Building Construction (Pte) Ltd. is seeking a seasoned Project Planning and Management professional to lead assigned construction projects from commencement through completion.

You will develop the master programme, monitor progress against milestones, coordinate manpower, materials and subcontractors, and ensure timely, quality delivery. The role requires strong leadership, risk management, and clear communication with clients, architects, consultants and site teams to safeguard

Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for assigned construction projects from start to handover and defect rectification.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor the project master programme and milestones.
  • Plan and coordinate manpower, materials, machinery and subcontractors for timely execution.
  • Identify delays, constraints and risks early and implement recovery measures.
  • Monitor site progress against the approved programme and completion dates.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers and site teams to follow the programme.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for Management.
  • Report any delay or issue that may affect cost, timeline or quality.
  • Manage day‑to‑day construction activities of project engineers and site staff.
  • Coordinate RC structural, architectural and M&E works and resolve clashes.

Job description

1.Project Planning and Management
  • Take overallresponsibility for assigned construction projects from commencement through completion, handover and defects rectification.
  • Develop, maintain and closely monitor the project master programme, construction schedule, short-termlook-ahead programme and key project milestones.
  • Plan and coordinatemanpower, materials, machinery, subcontractors and other resources necessary for the timely execution of the works.
  • Identify potentialdelays, constraints and risks at an early stage and implement appropriate recovery and mitigation measures.
2.Progress Control
  • Monitor actual site progress against the approved construction programme and contractual completion dates.
  • Ensure all subcontractors, suppliers and site teams carry out their works according to the required programme.
  • Prepare and submit weekly and monthly progress reports to Management.
  • Immediately report any actual or anticipated delay, disruption or matter that may affect project completion, cost or quality.
  • Prepare and implement recovery programmes where progress falls behind schedule.
3. Site and Construction Management
  • Manage and coordinatethe day-to-day construction activities of Project Engineers, Site Managers, Site Supervisors, subcontractors and workers.
  • Ensure proper construction sequence, site logistics and coordination between structural, architectural and M&E works.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings and method statements before execution.
  • Identify discrepancies, clashes or incomplete information in drawings and promptly raisethe necessary RFI, clarification or coordination matter.
  • Ensure that siteworks are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements and statutory requirements.
4. Structural, Architectural and M&ECoordination
  • Coordinate all RCstructural, architectural, finishing, M&E and external works.
  • Coordinate withArchitects, C&S Consultants, M&E Consultants, subcontractors and suppliers to resolve technical and site issues.
  • Ensure openings, sleeves, embedded items, builder's works and interfaces between different trades are properly coordinated before construction.
5.Client and Consultant Coordination
  • Represent the Company at project meetings, site meetings, technical meetings and coordination meetings as required.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Client, Architect, Consultants, subcontractors andsuppliers.
  • Follow up promptly oninstructions, submissions, approvals, RFIs, RFA inspections and outstanding matters.
  • Protect the Company's contractual and commercial interests when dealing with the Client, Consultants and subcontractors.
6.Cost and Commercial Control
  • Manage the project with proper cost awareness and assist Management and the Quantity Surveyor in controlling the project budget.
  • Monitor labour usage,material consumption, machinery usage and subcontractor performance to prevent unnecessary expenditure and wastage.
  • Identify variation works, additional works and changes in scope and ensure that they are properly recorded and communicated to the Quantity Survey or and Management before or during execution.
  • No substantial additional work, variation, purchase or subcontract commitment shall be instructed without the appropriate Company approval.
  • Assist in reviewing subcontractor quotations, claims, progress claims and variation claims when required.
7. Procurement and Material Planning
  • Prepare and monitor material procurement schedules to ensure that materials are ordered and delivered in accordance with the construction programme.
  • Coordinate with the purchasing team, suppliers and subcontractors on long-lead materials andcritical items.
  • Ensure materials delivered to site comply with approved specifications and submissions.
  • Prevent unnecessary urgent purchases, material shortages, over-ordering and wastage.
8.Quality Control
  • Ensure that all workscomply with contractual requirements, approved drawings, specifications and applicable quality standards.
  • Coordinate inspections with Consultants and relevant parties.
  • Ensure defects,non-conformances and poor workmanship are rectified promptly.
  • Take reasonable measures to minimise rework, abortive works and quality-related costs.
  • Ensure proper inspection and quality records are maintained.
9.Workplace Safety and Statutory Compliance
  • Work closely with the Project Safety Team to ensure compliance with the Workplace Safety and Health requirements and the Company's safety procedures.
  • Ensure that subcontractors and site personnel comply with approved safe work procedures andsite safety requirements.
  • Immediately report serious safety concerns, incidents or unsafe practices to Management.
  • Ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with applicable statutory and authority requirements.
10.Authority and Regulatory Coordination
