Main responsibilities:
Manage the cost estimate of investment projects during the Evaluation, Feasibility, Conceptual Studies, and Basic Studies phases:
- Analyze partial cost estimates established by the project team and consultants
- Perform self-assessment of cost estimates (full or partial) as required
- Aggregate cost information and identify provisions for technical risks and contingencies using appropriate methodologies (e.g., Monte Carlo simulation)
- Prepare cost estimate validation meetings and issue final approved cost estimate synthesis according to M&S standards
- Update project tools (e.g., SHINE)
Ensure project cost control during engineering through execution phases:
- Coordinate cost control efforts on large, complex projects (>100 M€)
- Establish budget breakdown from approved capital appropriation and cost estimates, following company accounting rules
- Monitor commitments and work-in-progress, issue monthly dashboards
- Provide timely project cost data and metrics
- Identify and manage deviations from baseline, analyze impacts, and propose corrective actions
- Alert project managers of deviations and ensure compliance with transfer and change management procedures
- Utilize standard cost control tools, including T&M and milestone-based progress methods
- Estimate cost at completion and reconcile project reports with ERP regularly
- Respond to finance requirements such as budget, trend, and closure
Establish end-to-end project schedule based on scope:
- Analyze planning requirements and define schedule objectives with the project team
- Develop schedule strategy, including float considerations
- Gather data and integrate sub-project schedules
- Break down project structure following work breakdown structure principles
- Create detailed schedules and inform stakeholders of actions
- Integrate partner schedules to build an overall schedule
- Sequence activities, estimate resources and durations
Maintain schedule control during project lifecycle:
- Coordinate schedule control efforts on large projects
- Develop control tools and measure physical progress (earned value)
- Monitor schedule performance and milestones
- Manage deviations, analyze impacts, and propose corrective actions
- Provide regular schedule dashboards and progress curves
Coordinate project controls team and interface with other functions:
- Lead internal and external project controls teams
- Evaluate competencies and advise on resource allocation
- Participate in reviews and risk mitigation actions
- Ensure timely reporting and communication with project management
About You:
- Engineering degree with 15 years of experience in an industrial environment, preferably in chemical or pharmaceutical sectors
- Extensive experience as a project controls manager on large CapEx projects
- Leadership skills in managing teams and cross-functional interfaces
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Customer-focused, results-oriented, team player, clear thinker
- Excellent influencing skills and ability to build relationships internally and externally
