Job summary

BD is a global medical technology leader in Singapore seeking a Production Operator for the Tuas Plant. You will operate and maintain production equipment, perform troubleshooting, monitor product quality, and contribute to continuous improvement while upholding GMP, safety and environmental standards.

You will collaborate with a production team to meet targets, develop Standard Work Instructions, train technicians, and participate in daily handovers and CI initiatives.

Qualifications

• NITEC or equivalent in Engineering or Manufacturing.
• Experience in manufacturing or technical environments preferred.
• Able to follow SOPs, work instructions and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate manufacturing equipment to meet production targets and quality standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance including cleaning, servicing and part replacement.
• Troubleshoot machine, tooling and equipment issues to minimize downtime.
• Conduct machine setup, adjustments and product changeovers.
• Support machine enhancement projects and CI initiatives.
• Develop and maintain Standard Work Instructions (SWI) and procedures.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve process reliability and product quality.
• Train, coach and support technicians and new employees on operations.
• Collaborate with Engineers on process improvements and CI projects.
• Participate in daily shift handover meetings and team performance discussions.
• Contribute to Kaizen, 20 Keys, safety programs, and team-building activities.
• Support GMP, environmental, health and safety requirements.

About the Role

Join BD and play a key role in supporting our manufacturing operations by ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production processes.

In this role, you will operate and maintain production equipment, perform troubleshooting and preventive maintenance, monitor product quality, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. You will work closely with the production team to achieve operational targets while maintaining compliance with safety, GMP, quality, and environmental standards.

What You'll Do

• Perform preventive maintenance activities, including cleaning, servicing, and component replacement.
• Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
• Conduct machine setup, adjustments, and product changeovers.
• Support machine enhancement projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain Standard Work Instructions (SWI) and operating procedures.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve process reliability and product quality.
• Train, coach, and support technicians and new employees on machine operations and best practices.
• Collaborate with Engineers and Subject Matter Experts on process improvement and CI projects.
• Participate in daily shift handover meetings and team performance discussions.
• Contribute to department initiatives such as Kaizen, 20 Keys, safety programs, and team-building activities.
• Support Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), environmental, health, and safety requirements.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

• NITEC, Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
• Experience in a manufacturing, production, or technical environment is preferred.
• Basic troubleshooting and mechanical aptitude for production equipment.
• Able to follow SOPs, work instructions, and safety procedures.
• Willingness to work shifts when required.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
