Job summary

VDL ENABLING TECHNOLOGIES GROUP (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. is seeking a Production Improvement Specialist to optimize processes, drive quality, and reduce costs on the shop floor.

You will lead cross‑functional teams, implement automation initiatives, and manage resources to meet targets with strong attention to safety and documentation. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering and 3+ years in manufacturing, with experience in Lean, automation, 8D problem solving, CAPA, and data analysis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Precision or Industrial Engineering).
  • At least 3 years in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, automation, and process improvement.
  • Familiarity with machining, robotics, polishing, welding.
  • Knowledge of automation solutions and digital tools.
  • Knowledge of OEE metrics and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Experience with 8D problem‑solving methodology and CAPA implementation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to lead and participate in improvement projects.
  • Continuous learning mindset and adaptability to new technologies and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production performance, track OEE metrics, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Optimize shop floor layout, material flow, and equipment relocation to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.
  • Improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance product quality through process improvements and automation solutions.
  • Lead 8D projects, drive structured problem‑solving initiatives, and implement corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
  • Track and manage consumable tools and non‑capitalised equipment inventory levels, optimise inventory levels, and prevent stockouts.
  • Manage suppliers to ensure timely delivery and optimal pricing.
  • Ensure safety compliance, conduct regular safety audits, and address operator concerns.
  • Provide technical support to operators, resolve issues, and develop clear procedures.
  • Design and implement automated workflows, minimise human intervention, and ensure seamless machine operations.
  • Identify training needs, develop targeted training programmes, and document training processes and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to solve complex production issues, drive process improvements, and share knowledge.
  • Plan and allocate resources to meet production targets, monitor performance, and identify bottlenecks.
  • Lead improvement projects, implement cost‑reduction initiatives, and track savings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of process changes, tooling updates, quality improvements, and operator feedback.
