Job summary

Omni-Plus System Limited is seeking a skilled process engineer to join its materials laboratory team in Singapore. You will lead lab-scale and pilot-level compounding projects for new polymer and filler systems, and help translate findings into scalable manufacturing processes.

The role requires a Bachelor degree in science/engineering with at least 3 years in polymer formulation, processing and characterization, plus experience with polymer compounding flow or CAD/CAM is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Science or Engineering in Materials/Polymer/Chemical Eng.
• At least 3 years' experience in organic/inorganic materials formulation, polymer processing and characterization.
• Experience with polymer compounding flow simulation or CAD/CAM is advantageous.
• Strong track record in product development.

Responsibilities

• Perform lab-scale and pilot-level compounding of new polymer and filler systems.
• Perform injection molding to prepare test specimens for polymer testing.
• Operate lab machinery following processing, quality, safety, and housekeeping procedures.
• Clean and prepare machinery for changeovers and subsequent processing.
• Monitor and maintain laboratory process machinery integrity and reliability.
• Identify problems and propose solutions (parameters, upgrades).
• Develop new and improved processes for custom polymer compounds.
• Support data transfer and specifications for large-scale manufacturing.
• Provide leadership in process safety and ensure compliance with industry best practices.
• Keep complete records of process parameters.
• Provide training for operators.
• Ad-hoc duties as required.

Job description

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform lab-scale and piolet-level compounding of new polymer / filler systems

• Performing injection molding to prepare the test specimen for polymer testing

• Ensures that lab machinery is operated following established processing, quality, safety, and housekeeping procedures

• Cleans and prepare machinery for efficient changeovers and subsequent compounding & injection molding process

• To monitor and ensure laboratory process machinery integrity and reliability, routine maintenance of machinery & auxiliary equipment.

• Identify problems and recommends solutions (process parameters, equipment upgrade, new equipment definition).

• Development of new and improved process for custom polymer compounds

• Support the transfer of data, processes and technical specifications for implementation into large scale manufacturing operations

• Provide leadership in process safety ensuring all new and modified processes meet best management practices within the industry

• Keep complete and accurate records of process parameters

• Provide operational training for operators or related personnel

• Any other ad-hoc duties as required

Job Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor Degree in Science or Engineering, preferably in Material Science, Polymer Technology or Chemical Engineering from a renowned university

• Minimum 3 years experience with a strong background in organic and inorganic materials formulation, polymer processing and characterization.

• Experienced in polymer compounding flow simulation and /or tooling CAD/CAM will be an added advantage

• Strong track record in product development
