Job summary

Teknor Apex is seeking a production process engineer to monitor and optimize existing plastics compounding processes. You will establish processing conditions, develop new methods, and resolve production issues by collaborating with Manufacturing and Technology teams.

The role involves plant trials, quality improvements, and supporting lean initiatives across the plant. Fresh graduates are welcome, with a degree in polymers, materials science, or chemical engineering.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Masters in Polymers Sciences, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience; fresh graduates are eligible to apply.
  • Proficient in RCA, LSW and other lean tools.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the existing production process with focus on problem-prone products.
  • Establish processing conditions for existing equipment and improve production efficiency for plastics compounding.
  • Develop new production process methods based on application and formulation.
  • Resolve production problems by effectively integrating with Manufacturing and Technology.
  • Conduct plant trials to qualify new process and scale up sample processes to production units.
  • Lead projects to improve rates, set formats for processes, and investigate customer complaints related to process issues and LIC200.
  • Support production quality improvements and participate in plant-wide quality initiatives.
  • Assist in setting work goals and performance standards to reduce rejects and downtime.
  • Communicate with stakeholders on new product process transfers from other plants.
  • Support lean initiatives: RCA, corrective/preventive actions, and cross-functional improvements.
  • Lead lean projects such as 5S, value stream mapping, and visual management to eliminate waste and improve performance.

Job description

Role and Responsibilities
  1. Monitor the existing production process; particular attention is placed on products with history of problems.
  2. Responsible for establishing processing conditions for existing production equipment and improving production efficiency for plastics compounding.
  3. Develop new production process methods based on their application and formulation.
  4. Resolve production problems involving process procedures by effectively integrating with Manufacturing and Technology.
  5. Conduct plant trials to qualify new process and scale up sample process to production units.
  6. Work on projects to improve rates and setup standard formats for different processes, and investigate customer complaints related to process issues and LIC200.
  7. Work on improving overall production quality and participate in plant‑wide quality endeavors.
  8. Assist in establishing specific work goals and performance standards to reduce reject rate and minimize downtime.
  9. Involve and communicate with related parties in new product process transfer from other plant.
  10. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by direct supervisor.
  11. Continuous improvement and lean initiatives:
    1. Timely RCA, develop and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to address issues.
    2. Lead or participate in cross‑functional improvement projects, collaborating with various departments and teams to drive process improvements, cost reduction, and operational excellence.
    3. Lead implementation of lean projects, such as 5S, value stream mapping, and visual management, to eliminate waste, improve workflow, cost savings, and enhance overall performance.
Education Qualification
  1. Degree or Masters in Polymers Sciences, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
Work Experience
  1. At least 2 years of relevant working experience; fresh graduates are eligible to apply.
Specific Knowledge
  1. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  2. Certified with 6‑Sigma Green Belt.
  3. Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement, proficient in RCA, LSW and other lean tools.
