Job summary

MANFIELD EMPLOYMENT SERVICES PTE LTD is seeking a Polymer Processing Specialist in Singapore to optimize and scale up twin-screw extrusion operations. You will lead setup and troubleshooting, ensure consistent product quality, and drive process improvements across materials and formulations.

The role requires hands-on experience in polymer compounding (minimum 3 years), strong rheology knowledge, and excellent problem-solving skills to interpret data and optimize processing parameters.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on polymer compounding experience.
  • Strong knowledge of polymer processing, rheology, and pigment dispersion.
  • Ability to interpret testing data and drive process improvements.
  • Experience with twin-screw extrusion technology preferred.
  • Good understanding of extruder components (feeders, screws, dies).

Responsibilities

  • Optimize and improve polymer compounding processes for consistent quality and productivity.
  • Lead setup, troubleshooting, and optimization of twin-screw extrusion processes across materials/formulations.
  • Support scale-up of new formulations from lab/pilot to full-scale production.
  • Establish and maintain processing parameters for repeatable production.
  • Troubleshoot extrusion issues: surging, surface defects, dispersion, colour variation.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Monitor and document critical process parameters (temperature, screw speed, torque, pressure, throughput).
  • Analyze production/testing data to identify process improvements.
  • Coordinate with R&D, Quality, Production and Maintenance for new materials/process implementation.
  • Maintain technical documentation and develop process knowledge for repeat production and scale-up.

Job description

  • Optimize and improve polymer compounding processes to achieve consistent quality, productivity, and process efficiency.
  • Lead the setup, troubleshooting, and optimization of twin-screw extrusion processes across various polymer materials and formulations.
  • Support the scale-up of new formulations from laboratory or pilot scale to full-scale commercial production.
  • Establish and maintain processing parameters and guidelines to ensure consistent and repeatable production.
  • Troubleshoot extrusion-related issues, including surging, surface defects, inconsistent dispersion, and colour variation.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team to maintain equipment reliability and production uptime, including feeder calibration, screw configuration, and die maintenance.
  • Monitor and document critical process parameters such as temperature profiles, screw speed, torque, pressure, and throughput.
  • Analyse production and testing data to identify process improvement opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Production, and Maintenance teams to ensure successful implementation of new materials and processes.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and develop process knowledge for repeat production and future scale-up activities.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in polymer compounding, preferably with twin‑screw extrusion technology.
  • Strong knowledge of polymer processing, rheology, additive incorporation, and pigment/colour dispersion.
  • Experience in troubleshooting extrusion processes and optimizing processing conditions.
  • Ability to interpret physical, chemical, and process testing data to identify root causes and drive process improvements.
  • Good understanding of extrusion equipment, including feeders, screws, dies, and associated process controls.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
