Job summary

GlobalFoundries is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead development and optimization of semiconductor fabrication processes. You will drive improvements, mentor engineers, and collaborate with internal teams and external partners to solve complex technical challenges.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Mechatronics / Microelectronics Engineering
• 5 to 8 years of relevant wafer fabrication experience
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Good analytical and project management skills
• Organized and systematic in problem solving, familiar with SPC, DOE & FMEA

Responsibilities

• Develop and modify process formulations, methods, and controls to meet stringent quality standards.
• Lead recipe creation, maintenance, and optimization for inspection tools (e.g., Brightfield, Darkfield, SEM).
• Drive Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs) to enhance process performance and productivity.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams for benchmarking and cross-learning initiatives.

About the Role

As a Principal Engineer, you will be a key technical leader responsible for developing and optimizing semiconductor fabrication processes. You will drive continuous improvement, solve complex, non-recurring technical challenges, and provide mentorship to a team of engineers. This role requires a blend of hands‑on technical expertise, a strategic mindset, and excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external partners.

What you will do:

Technical Expertise & Process Development:

• Develop and modify process formulations, methods, and controls to meet stringent quality standards.

• Create, analyze, and review technical data and charts to ensure process performance.

• Establish and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for related processes.

• Integrate equipment and material capabilities to meet process module and technology specifications.

• Lead recipe creation, maintenance, and optimization for inspection and review tools (e.g., Brightfield, Darkfield, and SEM tools) to shorten inspection time and improve recipe quality.

Leadership & Collaboration:

• Drive Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs) to enhance process performance and productivity.

• Lead and participate in cross‑functional teams to achieve organizational goals.

• Serve as a technical subject‑matter expert, providing guidance and training to junior engineers.

• Collaborate with vendors and other internal teams for benchmarking and cross‑learning initiatives.

• Show mastery of many aspects within one technical discipline, with group‑wide recognition as a senior member of a technical team.

Problem‑Solving & Innovation:

• Solve complex, novel, and non‑recurring technical problems.

• Proactively identify and implement significant changes to existing processes and methods.

• Contribute to intellectual property by being a contributing inventor on patents.

Safety & Compliance:

• Participate in and contribute to conference or journal publications.

• Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner.

• Support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

What you need:
