Job summary

Motional is hiring for a leadership role on the Perception Platform, partnering with world-class ML engineers and research scientists to advance self-driving vehicle tech. You will lead a team building data, training, and evaluation pipelines for perception modelling, while shaping strategy and mentoring engineers.

The role emphasizes hands-on coding, system architecture, and collaboration across ML, data, and software teams. Location is in Singapore with a global, driverless-technology focus.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in leadership or mentorship.
• 2+ years of experience developing, operating, or supporting distributed ML training across clusters of GPU nodes.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• A passion for remaining hands-on and producing production-grade code.
• Fluency in Python and familiarity with NumPy and Pandas.
• Proven backend development experience and architecture of complex systems.
• Deep ML/Perception knowledge to guide pipelines/tooling.
• Experience delivering data visualization tools or internal dashboards.
• Strong software engineering principles; leading design/ reviews and testing.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Build, lead and manage a high-performing team in creating, maintaining, and optimizing data, training, and evaluation pipelines for perception modelling.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and career development opportunities to team members.
• Define team goals, priorities, and roadmap aligned with company objectives.
• Work closely with ML engineers to identify and resolve challenges and implement improvements.
• Lead design and code reviews; ensure adoption of best practices.
• Foster cross-functional collaboration to align with broader organizational goals.
