Job summary

Grab seeks a Lead Software Engineer, Perception (Robotics) to own the perception stack across sensors, integrating camera, LiDAR, radar and IMU into real-time understanding.

You will be hands-on across development, evaluation, debugging, and iterative improvements, while mentoring teammates and shaping architecture for production-grade robotics perception in a fast-growing urban delivery platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience shipping or operating perception systems for robotics, AV, or ADAS.
• Experience in a research setting, leading a small team to state-of-the-art results.
• Strong knowledge across ML, perception, prediction, planning and simulation.
• Deep fundamentals in geometry and multi-sensor systems with practical calibration know-how.
• Proficiency in C++ and Python for production-quality code and tooling.
• Experience with log-driven root-cause analysis in production environments.
• Engineers' discipline with reproducible workflows and clear metrics.
• Experience leveraging AI tools to drive efficiency and solving problems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and set direction for perception capabilities across detection, tracking, and multi-sensor integration.
• Own perception foundations end-to-end including sensor integrity and calibration.
• Build diagnostics and automated checks to catch geometric or timing issues.
• Collaborate with Integration, Data, and Infra teams to ensure production-like reliability.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar of the team.
