Job summary

Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation in Singapore seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead reliability programs, manage capacity planning, and drive electrical upgrade projects across semiconductor facilities.

The role requires 5+ years in facilities or electrical engineering within critical manufacturing environments, with expertise in HV/LV systems, UPS, and power distribution; SCEM is preferred. You will mentor teams and ensure compliance across sites.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of facilities or electrical engineering experience.
• Experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data centre, or other critical manufacturing environments.
• Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM) credential is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical operations, reliability, and maintenance programs to ensure high availability of substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS and generators.
• Support fab expansion, load studies, protection coordination, and long-term electrical infrastructure planning.
• Manage electrical upgrade projects from design through commissioning, including consultants and vendors, within schedule and budget.
• Ensure compliance with local electrical, safety, and environmental regulations; develop LOTO and emergency procedures; participate in audits and risk assessments.
• Act as Energy Manager or contribute to energy management programs; identify energy savings opportunities and optimize utility performance.
• Provide SME guidance, establish engineering standards, and mentor engineering teams on electrical systems.

Electrical Operations & Reliability

• Ensure high availability of substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS, emergency generators, and electrical distribution systems.
• Lead response and recovery during power interruptions and critical utility events.
• Drive preventive, predictive, and reliability-cantered maintenance programs.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for electrical failures and power quality issues.

Engineering & Capacity Planning

• Support fab expansion, capacity upgrades, and new tool installations.
• Conduct load studies, short-circuit analysis, protection coordination, and arc flash assessments.
• Develop long-term electrical infrastructure plans aligned with manufacturing growth.

Project Management

• Lead electrical upgrade and expansion projects from design through commissioning.
• Manage consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
• Review engineering designs, technical specifications, and construction documentation.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with Singapore electrical, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Develop and maintain LOTO, emergency response, and electrical safety procedures.
• Support audits, inspections, and risk assessments.

Energy & Sustainability

• Serve as site Energy Manager or support corporate energy management programs.
• Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Support energy management and sustainability initiatives.
• Monitor utility performance and implement optimization programs.

Principal Engineer Responsibilities (for Principal Level)

• Serve as site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electrical systems.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Establish engineering standards and best practices.
• Lead critical troubleshooting and strategic infrastructure planning.

Job Requirement:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of facilities or electrical engineering experience.
• Experience in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, data centre, or other critical manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems, UPS, generators, and power distribution.
• Proven track record leading complex electrical projects and reliability programs.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Singapore Certified Energy Manager (SCEM).
