Grab is seeking a Principal Data Scientist for the Search and Personalization team in Singapore, based onsite at Grab One North. You will lead technical direction for user understanding and generative personalization across search, recommendation, chatbot, and notifications.

Reporting to the Head of Data Science, you will architect large-scale user representations and foundation models, collaborating with data science, engineering, and product to deliver scalable, low-latency solutions impacting

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent practical experience in ML or data science.
• 7+ years of industry experience designing and deploying production deep learning systems.
• Expertise in user modelling, recommendation, information retrieval, or related domains.
• Strong Python and DL frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) expertise.
• Experience with distributed training and real-time inference.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and define technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical strategy and roadmap for user understanding and generative personalization.
• Architect and develop large-scale user understanding systems from real-time signals.
• Develop reusable user representations and foundation models for downstream tasks.
• Advance generative recommendation using foundation models and retrieval.
• Drive platformization of user understanding with reusable APIs and services.
• Establish offline and online evaluation methodologies for models.
• Partner with engineers to design production architectures for large-scale training and serving.
• Evaluate emerging research and translate promising approaches into production.
