Job summary

Grab is seeking a Principal Data Scientist for the Search and Personalization team, based onsite in the Grab One North Singapore office. You will report to the Head of Data Science, Business Ecosystem, and steer the long-term technical direction for user understanding and generative personalization.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Operations Research, or another quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience developing large-scale machine learning systems.
• At least 7 years of industry experience designing and deploying production deep learning systems for recommendation, search, user modelling, NLP, or related applications at scale.
• Expertise and leadership in user modelling, recommendation systems, information retrieval, representation learning, or sequence modelling, with experience transforming large-scale behavioural data into representations.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical strategy and roadmap for user understanding and generative personalization across Grab's platform.
• Architect and develop large-scale user understanding systems capturing long-term preferences and real-time signals.
• Develop reusable user representations and foundation models for downstream tasks like retrieval, ranking, and conversational personalization.
• Advance generative recommendation via foundation models, generative retrieval, and sequence modeling.
• Drive platformization with reusable representations, models, features, APIs, and serving systems.
• Establish offline/online evaluation methodologies to measure model quality and impact.
• Collaborate with ML and platform engineers to design production architectures for training and serving at scale.
• Evaluate emerging research and translate promising approaches into production.
