Job summary

Alexandra Hospital seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist pharmacists in safe, timely drug distribution and supervision of pharmacy support staff. You will participate in dispensing, medication reconciliation, billing and customer service while maintaining quality and compliance.

Strong communication, teamwork and organizational skills are essential, with flexibility to work weekends or public holidays as required. Training and guidance provided to ensure smooth workflow.

Qualifications

• Must hold CPTC Certification or a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or a foreign pharmacy degree not recognized by Singapore Pharmacy Council.
• Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently to achieve department goals.
• Able to communicate effectively and work well in a team.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload efficiently.
• Flexible to work on weekends/public holidays occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform simple dispensing of medication in accordance with legal requirements and service standards.
• Process medication orders, pick, pack and label medicines per SOP.
• Carry out medication reconciliation steps: counting, sorting and typing prescriptions.
• Perform billing functions and provide professional, courteous service to patients/customers.
• Assist in inventory management and comply with medication safety practices.

Job description

Overview

Perform technical duties under the supervision of pharmacists to ensure safe, efficient and timely distribution of drugs in AH.

Assist the pharmacist in-charge to provide supervision to pharmacy support staff and to coordinate activities within a section to ensure smooth workflow and continuous improvement.

Dispense medicines to the patients according to department policies and guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

1. Pharmacy Operational duties

• Perform simple dispensing of medication in accordance with legal requirements and service standards
• Processing medication orders
• Picking, packing and labelling of medicines in accordance to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
• Perform the following medication reconciliation steps: counting, sorting and typing of prescriptions
• Performs simple review and interventions for selected drug groups
• Perform billing functions

2. Provision of quality customer service

• Provide professional and courteous service to all patients/customers

3. Inventory and Expiry Date Management

• Ensure stocks are stocked up properly and tidily according to FEST-in-First-Out requirement and stipulate storage conditions
• Carry out cycle counts and stock accurately and accordingly to the Standard Operating Procedures

4. Comply with medication safety practices in the pharmacy

5. Involve in quality improvement projects when required

Requirements

• Possess Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPTC) OR Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science OR foreign Pharmacy degree (not recognized by Singapore Pharmacy Council)
