PARKROYAL COLLECTION Pickering in Singapore is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join the team. You will support kitchen staff by preparing ingredients, assisting with cooking and ensuring timely, high-quality dishes in line with hotel standards.

The role requires readiness to work at various stations, maintain cleanliness, monitor food safety, and adapt to a fast-paced environment. Part-time hours (<35 per week) with AWS, meals, and employee discounts are offered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting and marinating.
• Assist with cooking as directed by the chefs and follow recipes.
• Support at assigned kitchen stations to ensure correct preparation and presentation.
• Check ingredient freshness and assist in maintaining food quality, taste and presentation.
• Coordinate with chefs and colleagues to manage preparation and service timing.
• Assist with stock replenishment, rotation, portion control and waste reduction.
• Keep workstations clean, stocked and compliant with safety checks.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements and report defects or safety concerns.
• Learn new culinary techniques and contribute ideas to kitchen operations.
• Communicate with kitchen and front-of-house teams to support guest requests and dietary needs.
• Maintain high food quality and service standards in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain personal hygiene, grooming and uniform standards and attend training sessions.

Job description

The Kitchen Assistant supports the kitchen team in preparing and delivering consistent, high-quality food in accordance with the hotel's standards.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting, marinating and portioning.
• Assist with cooking as directed by the chefs in accordance with established recipes and standards.
• Assist at assigned kitchen stations, such as sauce, grill, sauté, cold kitchen or pastry, to ensure food is prepared and presented correctly and served on time.
• Check ingredient freshness and assist in maintaining food quality, taste and presentation.
• Work closely with chefs and kitchen colleagues to coordinate food preparation and service timings.
• Assist with stock replenishment, stock rotation, portion control and waste reduction.
• Keep workstations clean, organised and adequately stocked; complete temperature records and other required checks.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation and Workplace Safety and Health requirements and report equipment defects or safety concerns promptly.
• Learn new culinary techniques, follow instructions from senior chefs and contribute suggestions for improving kitchen operations.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen and relevant front-of-house colleagues to support guest requests and dietary requirements.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining food quality and service standards.
• Maintain appropriate personal hygiene, grooming and uniform standards and attend required briefings and training.
• Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.
