Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Product Manufacturing Engineer in San Francisco to drive manufacturing and quality initiatives for AI hardware from concept to mass production, with a focus on PCB and PCBA manufacturing. You will lead design-to-manufacture processes, partner with design, operations, TPMs, vendors, and internal teams to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities

• Drive manufacturing initiatives to ensure product success from concept to launch
• Lead product design and manufacturing process for next-gen AI hardware
• Establish NPI manufacturing process, milestones, and quality controls
• Provide hands-on manufacturing analysis across design, development, testing, prototyping and production
• Research automation techniques and develop tests and systems for efficiency
• Own L6–L10 manufacturing development including PCB/PCBA, cabling and assembly
• Develop and manage manufacturing requirements, schedules and deliverables with engineering teams and suppliers
• Communicate with cross-functional teams to ensure program execution
• Perform risk assessment and change management on projects
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Monitor progress and ensure deadlines and standards
