Job summary

OpenAI’s Hardware organization is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer to own test strategy, development, and execution for AI hardware systems. You will define coverage across ICT, FCT, tray-level, and system tests, and work with hardware design, diagnostics, manufacturing, and external partners to deliver scalable, production-ready test solutions.

You will review data, debug failures, improve yield, and ensure test readiness from development through volume production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to hardware test.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing test engineering or related hardware test roles.
• Experience with ICT, structural board test, tray/chassis/system-level testing, and production diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the manufacturing test strategy for boards, trays, and system-level hardware across EVT, DVT, PVT, and production ramp.
• Develop and manage test coverage for ICT, FCT, tray-level, and system-level tests.
• Collaborate with engineering, diagnostics/software, manufacturing, quality, and suppliers to translate requirements into robust test solutions.
• Review test plans, pass/fail criteria, and release gates balancing coverage, time, and throughput.
• Drive continuous improvement of test processes, coverage, and data quality.
• Ensure test readiness for new product introductions with validation plans and standards.
