Job summary

Hilton Singapore Orchard is seeking a Commis Cook (Pastry) to assist in food preparation under senior chefs, delivering hospitality through precise plating and timely service. You will set up mise en place, follow HACCP and sanitation standards, read orders, and maintain clean, organized kitchen areas while supporting pastry and bakery operations as needed.

English communication skills are essential; you’ll work with a busy team in a fast-paced kitchen, adapt to guest requests, and participate

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to support day-to-day kitchen operations and workplace communication.
• Ability to work independently and manage assigned responsibilities effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• Basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices in accordance with applicable regulations and hotel standards.
• Basic knowledge of preparing Local, Asian, Western, and international desserts using standard preparation techniques.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Follow proper payroll & uniform procedures.
• Safe operation of kitchen equipment and maintaining sanitation in compliance with HACCP.
• Set up and complete mise en place for breakfast/lunch/dinner according to schedule.
• Prepare and present foods for service to established standards and assist Pastry/Bakery as needed.
• Interact with servers and accommodate guest preferences while maintaining food quality and hygiene.
