Job summary

Singapore LNG Corporation is seeking an intern to support optimization and analytics at its LNG terminals in Singapore. You will assist in developing models and tools for scheduling and inventory planning, run optimization algorithms, and help prepare reports and visualizations for internal stakeholders.

The role provides hands-on experience in data analysis, access to industry tools, and collaboration with commercial, operations and IT teams to understand data and optimization needs.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's in Engineering, Applied Math, Operations Research or related field.
• Basic knowledge of statistics or optimization concepts from coursework or projects.
• Familiarity with Python or another data analysis language is preferred.
• Comfort with databases and data handling (e.g., Excel, SQL).
• Strong attention to detail and good documentation habits.

Overview

About Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG): Singapore LNG Corporation is committed to building Singapore into a regional LNG hub. The Throughput Business Team plays a key role in this by overseeing LNG carrier scheduling, storage, regasification, and send-out to the national gas grid.

You will support the development and maintenance of optimization models that improve the efficiency of operations at SLNG’s terminals. Responsibilities

• Assist in developing models and tools to support scheduling and inventory planning for LNG terminals.
• Help run and maintain optimization algorithms to support vessel scheduling and inventory tracking.
• Support data analysis tasks to identify trends, constraints, and operational challenges.
• Assist in preparing reports, visualizations, and presentations for internal stakeholders and external parties.
• Document workflows, models, and processes clearly and systematically to support knowledge sharing and maintenance.
• Assist in developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to optimization processes and tools.
• Work closely with various teams (commercial, operations, IT) to understand data and optimization needs.
• Learn and apply basic optimization methods and industry tools under guidance.
• Stay updated on new techniques and tools relevant to optimization and analytics.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of Operations Research or data analytics, through academic projects or internships.
• Some experience or coursework in optimization techniques (e.g., linear programming, integer programming) is preferred.
• Familiarity with Python or another programming language used in data analysis (e.g., R, MATLAB).
• Basic understanding of databases and data handling (e.g., Excel, MySQL, or SQLite).
• Attention to detail and good documentation habits.
• Strong willingness to learn and take on technical challenges.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, or related field.
• Interest or exposure to energy industries is a plus.
