Job summary

Responsibilities

• Assists the Cook in food preparation activities, such as cleaning, cutting, chopping and peeling food ingredients.
• Cleans and sanitises the food preparation areas based on hygiene codes and safety standards.
• Washes, disinfects and stores cooking utensils and equipment properly.
• Buys, weighs and stores ingredients and food supplies.
• Operates a variety of kitchen appliances and instruments including cutters, knives, mixers and ovens.
• Manages inventory, unloads supplies and organises the storeroom.
• Contributes to programs or projects to improve service quality and productivity.
• Maintains clean work areas, utensils, and equipment.
• Develops new menu items while improvising existing ones.
• Maintains kitchen expenses, food costs, inventory, and staffing within budget.
