Responsibilities
Strategy
- Aware and understand the business strategies and models appropriate to the role.
- Deliver Network Services’ global WAN, LAN and WLAN strategies, in-line with the Banks’ strategy.
- Identify opportunities for automation, cost savings and service quality improvements.
- Work with various security domains within the team and across the Bank, to ensure the products and solutions are secure-by-design and meet the Bank’s stringent security standards.
- Establish and maintain strong, strategic partnerships with partners, vendors and service suppliers.
- Produce technical documentation i.e., High/Low Level Designs, build sheets, implementation plans, diagrams, whitepapers and operation guides, conduct proof-of-concept/value and lab tests on new products, technologies and features, ensuring they meet the Bank’s requirements, standards and objectives.
- Carry out knowledge transfer sessions to other colleagues, uplifting their awareness and technical understanding of the network.
Business
- Awareness and understanding of the wider business, economic and market environments in which the group operates.
- Gain a deep understanding of the Bank’s objectives and priorities.
- As a critical technology service for the Bank, ensure the architecture and design are highly available, optimal and stable, providing the best possible quality-of-experience.
- Work alongside colleagues in Networks & Security Architecture domain, and across other domains such as Workplace, Cloud, Operations, Audit, Risk and Governance.
- Work closely with business and technology stakeholders from various functions, in an endeavour to develop outcomes that are cohesive and beneficial across the Bank.
- Work closely with Cyber Security teams to ensure security-first solutions and implementations.
- Develop influential and trustworthy working relationships with others. This should be aimed at improving team efficiency in performing their work.
- Provide consultancy and advisory services to the business and technology stakeholders for all product and solution related matters assigned.
- Provide operational and monitoring excellence.
- Be the SME for matters related to WAN, telecommunications, transport and connectivity.
Our Ideal Candidate
- The Network Specialist:
- Has substantial expertise in designing, solutioning, implementing and operating modern software-defined WAN, LAN, and WLAN infrastructures from Cisco, Versa, Aruba and the likes.
- Is responsible for the identification and selection of appropriate network solutions to design and deploy in environments based on business objectives and requirements.
- Is skilled in developing, deploying, and troubleshooting network deployments, with deep technical knowledge, especially around routing and switching, software-defined network and WAN, wireless, typical of a large, modern enterprise network.
- Further align the network to meet the Bank’s objectives through continuous developments, improvements and automation.
- Preferably 10+ years of experience in network design and delivery of technology centric, customer-focused services.
- Preferably 3+ years in modern software-defined network and preferably, in cloud-based environments.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science/Information Technology, or its equivalent.
- Preferably possess a valid Versa Certified Administrator - SD-WAN Specialist or Versa Certified SD-WAN Associate (VNX100).
- Preferably possess a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or its equivalent.
- Must possess advanced knowledge in Versa Secure SD-WAN and Cisco SD-WAN with medium to large scale deployment and management experience. Cisco SD-WAN is a MUST.
- Must possess advanced knowledge in TCP/IP concepts and fundamentals.
- Good working knowledge in WAN, SD-WAN, LAN, SD-LAN, WLAN and NGFW technologies.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of common network RFCs, protocols, transports, and standards such as MPLS, Internet, VxLAN, IPsec, QoS, BGP, OSPF, GRE and other transport technologies and protocols that are related, but not limited to WAN and LAN.
- Good understanding of modern software-defined networks’ additional elements e.g., NFV, SASE, Versa Secure Access and/or Cisco Umbrella from one or more product vendors e.g., Versa, Cisco, and/or their equivalents.
- Good Cloud networking knowledge such as Direct Connect, Express Route and multi-cloud connectivity architectures from providers such as Equinix and Megaport.
- Fundamental understanding of Wireless, DHCP, DNS and IPAM (DDI), proxy, WAF, CDN and DDOS concepts and platforms such as Infoblox, Zscaler, Akamai, Imperva, and the likes.
- Integration experience and knowledge between modern networks and cloud service providers such as AWS, Azure and GCP will be advantageous.
- Knowledge in SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, and virtualization will be advantageous.
- Coding skills such as Python will be advantageous.
- Experience in various internal and external monitoring, management, and reporting tools e.g., Spectrum, SevOne, CyberArk, ThousandEyes and MS Entra ID will be advantageous.
- Excellent technical knowledge, troubleshooting, problem analysis, and outside-the-box thinking.
- Excellent communication skills – oral, written and presentation, across various types of target audiences.
- Strong sense of personal ownership and responsibility in accomplishing the organization’s goals and objectives. Exudes confidence, able to cope under pressure and will roll-up his/her sleeves to drive a project to success in a challenging environment.
