Job summary

OCBC Bank is seeking a Microservices Engineer in Group Engineering to shape the bank's technology landscape and drive digital transformation. You will design function-centric solutions, collaborate across teams, and stay ahead of tech trends.

You will work on transitioning legacy platforms to microservices, defining governance, and delivering scalable, high-performance Java services with Spring Boot and modern data stacks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree + 5+ years designing and developing scalable Java microservices with Spring Boot.
• Hands-on data tech experience: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Spring Batch.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with containerization and cloud tech (OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, Mesos, AWS).
• Proficiency with DevOps and testing tools: Git, SVN, TFS, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus, Selenium, SonarQube.
• Strong communication skills and ability to present complex ideas to stakeholders.
• Financial services domain knowledge is desirable.

What you do

• Design and build function-centric solutions in the context of transition from traditional, legacy platforms to microservices architectures
• Outline the governance and microservices development guiding principles as well as ensuring the best practices are followed by the development team
• Work collaboratively to understand the business domain and client requirements that drive analysis, architecture/design and development of quality technical solutions and deliverables. These solutions cross a broad spectrum of technologies and must align with business and IT strategies and to comply with the organization’s architectural and security standards.
• Participate in coordinated planning sessions and provide effort estimates for business initiatives of IT solutions
• Maintain cutting edge knowledge of current and emerging technologies, industry trends and standards

Who you are

• Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of proven experience designing and developing scalable, high-performance Java-based microservices using the Spring Boot framework. Strong hands‑on expertise with data technologies including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and batch processing using Spring Batch. Solid experience with Apache Kafka and RESTful API.
• Experience in implementing business critical, high volume, and highly available services is a must.
• Experience with containerization and cloud technologies (eg. OpenShift, Kubernetes, Dockers, Mesos, AWS) as well as DevOps and testing tools (Git, SVN, TFS, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus, Selenium, SonarQube)
• Experience with cloud-based, CD/CI or DevOps development environment
• Good communication skills both in writing and verbally with ability to present the complex ideas or technical solution to business and/or management team
• Domain knowledge in Financial Services industry is desirable
