Job summary

Parkway Hospitals Singapore Pte. Ltd. is seeking a Medical Technologist III (Histology) to ensure that histology specimens are processed and stained promptly for examination and diagnosis.

This role includes shift duties and callbacks, supervision of junior staff, and on-the-job training to maintain high-quality laboratory work. The incumbent will also assist in preparing and maintaining current work instruction manuals, manage inventory via the laboratory computer system, review daily QC

Qualifications

• Three years' experience in a histology laboratory.
• Prior senior grade experience preferred.
• Proficiency in histology workflows and QC.

• Perform duties of Medical Technologist III in Histology dept and supervise junior staff.
• Conduct on-the-job training for new staff.
• Help prepare and maintain current work instruction manuals and ensure follow-through.
• Maintain inventory levels via lab computer system and report deficiencies.

• Comply with regulatory guidelines and assist in quality assurance and audits; support flexible staffing.

The Role

Responsibilities

Working with the consultant pathologists and staff of Pathology Department to ensure that the histology specimens received daily are promptly and efficiently processed and stained for examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Staff in this position is required to perform shift duties and call back duties.

Key accountabilities

• To perform the duties and responsibilities as laid out in the job description of Medical Technologist III (Histology Department) and supervise junior or new staff.
• To be involved in on-the-job training of new staff.
• To assist in the preparation and maintaining current work instruction manuals and assist in ensuring follow through by staff.
• To maintain proper inventory levels of all supplies via the laboratory computer system and report any deficiency to senior staff where appropriate.
• To review daily quality control (QC) results and any problems with appropriate senior staff.
• To comply with all regulatory guidelines, participating in hospital quality assurance programs, audit process, etc. Supports flexible staffing requirements in the department.
• Any other duties as assigned from time to time by management.

Qualifications & Experience

Recognized Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology, Science degree, Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent.

• a. Three years' experience in a histology laboratory. Prior experience in senior grade preferred.
• b. Proficient and skillful in histology work processes / quality control.
• c. Interpersonal, communication and computer skills. Supervisory / management skills are important in this position.
