Job summary

PARKWAY HOSPITALS SINGAPORE PTE. LTD. is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform diverse test procedures in the clinical laboratory with limited supervision.

You will handle routine sample processing and a range of chemistry and serology tests on bodily fluids. The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related field and have 1–2 years of experience in chemistry/immunology testing, with strong analytical and detail-oriented skills to maintain accurate records and

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of test procedures according to laboratory standards with minimal supervision.
  • Process routine samples (spinning, aliquoting) and conduct qualitative/quantitative analyses on blood, CSF, urine and other body fluids.
  • Carry out routine chemistry procedures including microscopy and serology tests.
  • Operate minor equipment (iSTAT, glucometer, hemochron, dipstick) and validate equipment where needed.
  • Handle administrative tasks: registering samples, answering inquiries, printing and faxing results, and maintaining records.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and participate in quality assurance programs.
  • Maintain inventory levels of laboratory consumables and reagents.
  • Review daily QC results and report issues to senior staff.
  • Ensure calibration and functioning of instruments; report any malfunction.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Responsible to perform, depending on the section posted, a variety of test procedures according to the standards set in the Laboratory with little direct supervision by a senior staff
  • Routine sample processing such as spinning and aliquoting of patient samples.
  • Routine qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on blood, CSF (cerebrospinal fluid), urine and other body fluids.
  • Routine chemistry procedures including, microscopy (urine, dysmorphic RBCs) and serology (dengue, influenza covid combo test, urine preg)
  • Minor equipment testing (iSTAT, glucometer, hemochron, urine dipstick)
  • Minor equipment validation (Timer, pipette, thermometer).
  • Administrative section - responsible to perform registration of patient samples, handling telephone inquiries by clients and printing and faxing of patient results. Result retrieval and record/specimen keeping.
  • Complies and maintains all applicable safety regulations in the Laboratory.
  • Maintains proper inventory levels of all Clinical Laboratory consumables and reagents
  • Reviews all daily QC results and discuss any problems with senior staff.
  • Checks the performance of all instruments and equipment in the Laboratory and to report any equipment which is not functioning properly.
  • Complies with all regulatory guidelines, participating in CAP proficiency testing programs and in hospital quality assurance programs.
  • Participates in a routine maintenance program for instruments and in on-going continuing education and professional development programs.
  • Supports flexible staffing requirements in the department and participates in shift duties.
  • Any other duties as assigned from time to time by clinical supervisor.- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in chemistry/immunology testing (optional)
  • Some knowledge of chemistry or immunology principles, practices, and procedures
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team
