Job summary

Parkway Medical Services (Hong Kong) Limited is seeking a qualified Medical Technologist in Singapore to perform registrations, handle client inquiries, and print and fax results. You will verify results across multiple disciplines and maintain QC reviews while ensuring instrument maintenance and compliance with IQA/EQA programs.

The role includes training junior staff, supporting CME activities, and assisting in annual quality initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years clinical laboratory working experience.
• Possess recognized professional membership certification is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Performs registration of patient samples and handles telephone inquiries.
• Prints and faxes patient results.
• Performs and verifies results for multiple laboratory disciplines.
• Maintains weekly/monthly QC review and troubleshoots data biases.
• Performs instrument maintenance and reports issues to section lead.
• Participates in IQA, EQA and proficiency testing programs.
• Validates new tests or instrument setups and submits reports.
• Trains junior staff and assists in CME participation.

Job description

a. Technical Responsibilities:

• Performs registration of patient samples, handling telephone inquiries by clients, printing and faxing of patient results.


• Performs and verifies or approves results for a variety of laboratory tests and procedures in any of the assigned laboratory discipline(s):


• i. Blood Transfusion Section


• ii. General Chemistry


• iii. Special Chemistry


• iv. Haematology and Clinical Microscopy


• v. Coagulation


• vi. Microbiology


• vii. Molecular


• viii. Point-of-Care Testing


• Performs primary weekly or monthly QC review of QC results in the laboratory discipline assigned and troubleshoots QC data if there are any biases.


• Performs daily, weekly and monthly maintenance of instruments used in the laboratory and to report to section lead of instruments not functioning properly.


• Participates any inter-laboratory quality assurance (IQA), external quality assurance (EQA) and proficiency testing programs that the laboratory is subscribed to and investigates failures if there is any.


• Participates and performs the required validation protocols for new test or instrument set-up and submits the report to section lead.

b. Administrative Responsibilities:

• Performs annual reading of applicable laboratory SOPs and assists in the annual review or drafting of laboratory SOPs assigned by the section lead.


• Train and guide each junior staff in their assigned laboratory discipline.


• Participates in internal or external continuing medical education (CME) and other professional development programs which includes performing in-house training or CME presentation for junior MT staff.


• Participates in the annual quality improvement projects in the laboratory.


• Performs compliance checks of all applicable safety regulations in the laboratory and reports non-compliances to laboratory safety officers for corrective actions.


• In the absence of Senior Medical Technologist, directly assist the section lead to ensure continuous operational services.


• Requirement:


• - Recognized Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent.


• - Minimum of 5 years clinical laboratory working experience.


• - Possess recognized professional membership certification is an added advantage.
