Job summary

Parkway Laboratories in Singapore is seeking Medical Technologists to join our network of hospitals, including Gleneagles, Mount Elizabeth, Mount Elizabeth Novena, and Parkways East. You will perform a variety of test procedures and routine sample processing in a busy clinical laboratory.

You will conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses on blood, CSF, urine and other body fluids, with opportunities for ongoing education, QC reviews, and adherence to CAP and hospital quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in chemistry/immunology testing preferred.
• Knowledge of chemistry or immunology principles, practices, and procedures.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of test procedures according to laboratory standards.
• Routine sample processing such as spinning and aliquoting.
• Conduct routine chemical analyses on body fluids (blood, CSF, urine).
• Perform microscopy and serology tests (e.g., dengue, influenza, covid combo test).
• Minor equipment testing and instrument validation.
• Handle administrative tasks: sample registration, result printing, and record keeping.
• Maintain inventory of consumables and reagents; review daily QC results.
• Ensure safety and regulatory compliance; participate in proficiency testing and quality programs.
• Support routine maintenance and ongoing education and development.

Job description

The Role

Be a part of Parkway Laboratory! We are looking for Medical Technologists in the following locations:

• Gleneagles Hospital
• Mount Elizabeth Hospital (Orchard)
• Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital
• Parkway East Hospital
• Main Laboratory in Paya Lebar area

Key Accountabilities

• Perform a variety of test procedures according to the standards set in the Laboratory.
• Routine sample processing such as spinning and aliquoting of patient samples.
• Routine qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses on blood, CSF (cerebrospinal fluid), urine and other body fluids.
• Routine chemistry procedures including, microscopy (urine, dysmorphic RBCs) and serology (dengue, influenza covid combo test, urine preg).
• Minor equipment testing (iSTAT, glucometer, hemochron, urine dipstick) and equipment validation (Timer, pipette, thermometer).
• Handle administrative tasks such as registration of patient samples, handling telephone inquiries by clients, printing/sending patient results, result retrieval and record/specimen keeping.
• Maintain proper inventory levels of all clinical laboratory consumables and reagents.
• Review all daily QC results and highlight any concerns with the Seniors.
• Check the performance of all instruments and equipment in the Laboratory and to report any faulty equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and regulatory guidelines, participating in CAP proficiency testing programs and in hospital quality assurance programs.
• Participates in routine maintenance program for instruments and ongoing continuing education and professional development programs.
• Other duties as assigned from time to time by clinical supervisor.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology or related field
• Preferably with 1 to 2 years of experience in chemistry/immunology testing
• Some knowledge of chemistry or immunology principles, practices, and procedures
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Able to work 3 rotating shift including weekends and public holiday
