Job summary

Aster is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Lead in Singapore to oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of critical plant equipment, ensure safety, and drive reliability initiatives. You will supervise a team of technicians/contractors, diagnose failures, and coordinate with supervisors using SAP PM to manage work orders and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Nitec/ Higher Nitec/ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; 5+ years in mechanical maintenance in petrochemical/refinery
  • Trade qualification with 10+ years of relevant experience in petrochemical/refinery environments
  • Experience leading technicians or contractors and executing maintenance safely and independently

Responsibilities

  • Comply with OE program, safety policies and procedures; participate in safety committees
  • Lead and supervise a team of mechanical contractors in preventive maintenance
  • Perform preventive/corrective maintenance on mechanical systems (pumps, compressors, blowers, piping, valves)
  • Diagnose equipment failures, document findings, implement corrective actions, update SAP notifications
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts, and equipment history
  • Train and mentor junior technicians to build technical capability
  • Undertake additional duties to enhance organizational performance and personal development

Job description

The successful candidate will oversee mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical equipment to ensure safe and efficient polymer plant operations. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a steadfast commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Comply with the Company's Operation Excellence (OE) program, safety policies, and emergency procedures; actively participate in safety committees, meetings, and initiatives.
  • Lead and supervise a team of mechanical contractors in routine preventive maintenance activities.
  • Perform preventive / corrective maintenance work of mechanical systems (pumps, compressors, blowers, piping, valves, etc.) under the directive of the supervisors and provide feedback of maintenance activities to the supervisors.
  • Diagnose equipment failures, document findings, implement corrective actions and update SAP notifications with detailed "as found" and "as left" information.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, spare parts inventory, and equipment history.
  • Train and mentor junior technicians to build technical capability within the team.
  • Undertake additional duties assigned to enhance organizational performance and personal development.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Nitec / Higher Nitec / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant mechanical maintenance experience in petrochemical or refinery industry; or
  • Recognized Trade or vocational qualification in a relevant mechanical trade, with at least 10 years of relevant technician experience in the petrochemical or refinery industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading technicians or contractors, troubleshooting mechanical equipment and executing maintenance work safely and independently.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, rotating equipment and fixed equipment maintenance or repair.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, technical manuals and use SAP Plant Maintenance Module for Work Order/Notification management
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • An effective team player with good communication skills
