Job description

Overall Objective: To provide comprehensive mechanical engineering design, review, and assurance services to support our client's project lifecycle.

Key Service Activities:

• Design Development & Standardization: Plan, develop, and standardize mechanical engineering packages, specifications, and design guidelines. Actively participate in the in-depth design of new mechanical systems, providing technical input, guidance, and critical review.

• Design Review & Coordination: Review and comment on mechanical drawings and design documentation using Google Workspace, BIM360, and 3Dx cloud platforms. Assess technical content, coordination, and quality, escalating critical items affecting schedule and cost to client consultants and contractors during design meetings to ensure compliance with all client Standards, Guidelines, URSs, and Narratives.

• Technical Advisory & QA/QC: Provide expert technical review and advice on the design, construction, and operation of all mechanical engineering systems related to data centre infrastructure. Perform QA/QC peer reviews of design documents utilizing standard checklists, trackers, and tools through Google Workspace, BIM360, and 3Dx cloud platforms.

• System Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify, suggest, and document improvements and modifications to mechanical engineering systems, focusing on technology adoption, cost efficiency, time savings, energy efficiency, and operational performance. Prepare and deliver presentations on proposed improvements as needed.

• Defect Resolution & Project Closure: Manage defect rectifications, punch list closures, and final inspections on mechanical engineering systems for formal closure.

• Reporting & Communication: Provide regular updates and maintain comprehensive trackers of issues, risks, and mitigation actions related to mechanical systems according to internal frameworks. Report all issues, progress, and blocking items to the client's Technical Program Manager and Technical Lead.

• Meeting Participation & Strategic Direction: Attend design meetings, providing continual input to optimize design and minimize unnecessary work. Provide clear direction to partners on path forward, given problems or problem statements.

• Technical Liaison: Act as a key technical liaison between the client team, dedicated resources, external vendors, and project stakeholders for all mechanical engineering aspects.

• Documentation Management & Standards Enhancement: Update owner standard documentation (e.g., Specs, programming documents) as design improvements are made. Provide administrative assistance on project documentation, including revision control, deliverable tracking, and final upload to the AODocs cloud database system.

Clarity & Definitions: All descriptions will be clear, literal, and understandable by a non-familiar reader. Acronyms, internal jargon, and industry-specific technical terms will be defined. Consistent defined terms will be used throughout.
