Job summary

DSO National Laboratories, Singapore’s premier defence R&D organisation, invites a Mechanical QC Assistant Engineer to strengthen its Guided Systems Division. You will perform precise inspections, coordinate with designers and vendors, and drive root-cause analysis to resolve quality issues.

The role requires a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, strong GD&T knowledge, and experience with CMM, verniers, and micrometers.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with relevant experience in mechanical parts inspection using QC measuring tools preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical workmanship standards for precision-machined parts and mechanical assemblies.
• Ability to interpret GD&T mechanical drawings for dimensional inspection and quality verification.
• Ability to coordinate with internal designers, project teams, external vendors, and customers on quality-related matters.
• Knowledge of quality inspection procedures, defect identification, non-conformance management, and root cause analysis.
• A strong team player with good coordination skills and the ability to work effectively with project members to meet quality and project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform in-coming inspection of mechanical precision machined parts using various types of high-tech measuring instruments such as Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Faro scanning/profiling instrument and other standard QC tools like verniers, micrometers, etc.
• In-process Inspection of mechanical assemblies, subsystems and Final Inspections of systems.
• Assist QA engineer in performing external on-site vendor/contractor QC surveillance checks and audits.
• Assist QA engineer to conduct Quality Audits, where required.
• Report and resolve non-conformances and Quality issues found during inspections and manage corrective and preventive action reports with vendors and engineering staff to close the issues.
• Manage calibration of measuring and inspection test equipment.
