Job summary

I.EM Engineering Consultants PTE. LTD. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to plan and design mechanical systems for building services projects, delivering buildable, economical solutions within schedule.

The role requires hands-on design work, coordination with contractors and authorities, and ongoing project management from pre-development to completion. Singapore-based position with full-time on-site work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• At least 2 years’ hands-on experience in design in an engineering consultancy firm for diploma holder.
• Experience in handling full cycle of building service projects and strong background in A/C and MV design.
• Good understanding of Singapore Code of Practice and authority submission process.
• Confident with presentation and communication skills; able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Design of mechanical services such as Air-Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation, Fire Protection, Medical gas, Compress Air and Sanitary and Plumbing Systems.
• Presentation of design concept report to client.
• Prepare M&E cost estimates based on approved design scheme.
• Prepare technical specifications and tender documentation.
• Coordinate M&E services within the office.
• Review shop drawings, material submissions and RFIs.
• Verify progress and variations for progress claims.
• Liaise with main contractor, architect, authorities for compliance and timely completion.
• Carry out site investigation and submit technical reports.
• Manage Designers and oversee project management from pre-development to completion.
• Attend site and technical meetings to resolve issues; coordinate with authorities on submissions and inspections.

Main Role and Responsibilities

Planning and Design of Mechanical engineering works for building services projects to deliver buildable design within a timely manner, and economical service to meet client’s requirement.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Design of mechanical services such as Air-Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation, Fire Protection, Medical gas, Compress Air and Sanitary and Plumbing System etc.
• Presentation of design concept report to client.
• Preparation of M&E cost estimate base on approved design scheme.
• Preparation of technical specifications and tender documentation.
• Co-ordination of M&E services within the office.
• Reviewing of shop drawings, material submissions and handle RFIs.

• Carry out site investigation survey and submitting of technical reports.
• Managing of Designers
• Project Management from pre-development through to completion, including the following
  • Site Assessment and Inspection
  • Design development and co-ordination
  • Attend site meetings, technical meetings etc to resolve technical issues.
  • Following up with authorities on submissions, inspection and issuance of certification.
• Ensure that all project quality records and quality audit plans are maintained.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure works are in compliance with method Statements & proper sequence of work and in accordance to good industry practice.
• Provide feedbacks in the areas of Quality Control measures and corrective actions.
• Assist in company’s ISO system implementation and audit
• Other works as assigned by the company

Prerequisites

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 2 years’ hands-on experience in design in an engineering consultancy firm for diploma holder.
• Experience in handling full cycle of building service projects and proven track record with strong background in Air-Conditioning and Mechanical Ventilation Design.
• Good understanding of Singapore Code of Practice and authority submission process.
• Confident and have strong presentation & communication skills
• Able to work independently as well as in a team setting
