NTU Singapore invites applications for a research fellow in marine microbiology. You will apply field techniques and molecular protocols to isolate DNA and RNA from marine bacteria and seagrasses for community analysis, genome sequencing and metagenomics, with a focus on coral resilience.

Candidates should have a PhD in marine microbiology, strong molecular biology and bioinformatics skills, and willingness to work in intertidal zones and at sea.

Qualifications

• PhD in marine microbiology or marine microbial ecology.
• Competent in molecular microbiology and bioinformatics.
• Ability to culture bacteria and corals in lab and field station settings.
• Ability to perform DNA manipulation for molecular community analysis.
• Experience with PAM fluorometry, flow cytometry, and microscopy.
• Marine field experience; able to swim and work in intertidal zones; travel by boat for field sampling.
• CSL2 biosafety handling of microbes.
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; proactive mindset.

Responsabilités

• Perform manipulative experiments with corals and bacteria to assess thermal and disease tolerance.
• Sample, manipulate, and analyze corals using physiological and molecular methods.
• Collaborate with marine scientists to identify microbes that support coral resilience.
