National University of Singapore is seeking a marine biology-focused candidate to assist in environmental research and field logistics. The role involves field trips on research vessels, processing samples, and data management, with emphasis on coral ecology and biostatistics.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Marine Biology, strong English communication, and experience with MS Office, LaTeX, and R. Priority given to SCUBA divers with Rescue certification and 100 logged dives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a major in Marine Biology.
  • Strong background in coral ecology and/or biostatistics.
  • SCUBA Divers with a minimum of Rescue diver certification and/or 100 logged dives will be given priority.
  • Experience with LIT survey techniques.
  • Troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Honest, highly motivated, resourceful, independent and eager to learn.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, LaTeX and R.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in marine environmental research.
  • Regular field trips onboard research vessels that may extend outside conventional office hours.
  • Coordination of field trips, logistics and pre-field preparation.
  • Post-field processing of samples, including identification of specimens and image processing.
  • Purchasing of consumables and equipment.
  • General administrative duties.
  • General maintenance of laboratories and equipment.
  • Curation of reference collection.
  • Data management, analysis, interpretation and reporting.
