Job summary

Capita Singapore (PERSOL Singapore) is seeking a marine insurance underwriter to strengthen key accounts and analyze growth opportunities. You will review underwriting and renewal documents, underwrite simpler risks, and maintain profitable portfolios within the marine line.

The role requires knowledge of marine insurance operations, risk assessment, and regulatory frameworks, with at least 1 year of underwriting experience. A related degree and ACII/ANZIIF are preferred.

Qualifications

• ACII, ANZIIF, or a degree in Business or Maritime.
• At least 1 year of marine insurance underwriting experience.
• Knowledge of marine insurance operations and underwriting procedures.
• Understanding of risk assessment, laws and regulations for marine insurance.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen relationships with key accounts to drive new and existing business opportunities.
• Support business reviews, including product selection and pricing strategies.
• Conduct territory and distribution channel analyses to optimize growth efforts.
• Review and prepare underwriting and renewal documentation.
• Underwrite simpler risks while maintaining a profitable portfolio in marine business.
• Ensure timely communication of necessary instructions to Policy Administration.
• Verify policies and broking slips for accuracy.
• Compile and analyze monthly reports for business meetings and reviews.
• Maintain acceptable pricing and terms within underwriting authority for new business and renewals.
• Ensure an acceptable loss ratio through effective account management and tracking of claims.
• Evaluate facultative reinsurance needs and coordinate as needed within underwriting guidelines.
• Stay informed on market conditions and competitive landscape, sharing insights with the team.
• Develop and maintain relationships with intermediaries to support business retention and acquisition.
• Implement rigorous screening practices in compliance with KYC processes.
