Job summary

Eastern Pacific Shipping (EPS) is seeking an Executive (Marine HR), Planning, to act as the central contact for marine HR across an assigned fleet. You will collaborate with Marine HR Managers to ensure crews are qualified, competent, and well-supported, covering recruitment, training, and rotation planning while maintaining MLC compliance.

You will review crew requirements monthly, conduct background checks, and coordinate with global manning offices to deploy staffing efficiently.

Qualifications

• Minimum diploma qualification, ideally in a relevant discipline.
• At least 3 years of Marine HR experience, onboard ships or shore-based.
• Strong knowledge of STCW and MLC requirements.
• Good command of written and spoken English with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary Marine HR contact for assigned vessels, supporting recruitment, training, and workforce planning.
• Review crew requirements monthly and coordinate with manning offices to fulfil recruitment needs.
• Screen and shortlist crew applications and verify background certificates.
• Plan and monitor ship staff rotations and crew pooling.
• Coordinate with fleet and technical managers to assign vessel management teams in line with STCW and EPS policies.
• Maintain audit-ready documentation for new hires and rejoinders.
• Ensure vessels meet MLC requirements and EPS standards.
• Organise briefings for senior officers and training sessions for promotion candidates.
• Review crew performance and identify candidates for career development and promotion.
• Communicate EPS procedures and compliance standards across global manning offices.

As Executive (Marine HR), Planning, you will be the central point of contact for marine HR matters across an assigned fleet working closely with Marine HR Managers to ensure that every vessel is crewed by qualified, competent, and well-supported maritime professionals. From recruitment and crew rotation planning to MLC compliance and career development, this role sits at the intersection of people management and maritime operations. Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all Marine HR matters for assigned vessels, supporting Marine HR Managers in delivering recruitment, training, and workforce planning outcomes.
• Review crew requirements monthly and collaborate with manning offices to fulfil recruitment needs in a timely and effective manner.
• Screen and shortlist crew applications and conduct thorough background checks and certificate verifications.
• Plan and monitor ship staff rotations and crew pooling to ensure efficient and well-sequenced manpower deployment across the fleet.
• Coordinate with fleet and technical managers to assign vessel management teams in compliance with STCW requirements and EPS company policies.
• Maintain accurate and audit-ready documentation for all new hires and rejoinders.
• Ensure all assigned vessels consistently meet MLC requirements and EPS manning standards.
• Organise office briefings for senior officers and coordinate training sessions for promotion candidates.
• Review crew performance appraisals and identify candidates suitable for career development and promotion.
• Communicate company procedures and compliance standards to global manning offices, ensuring alignment across all regions.

Requirements

• Minimum diploma qualification, ideally in a relevant discipline.
• At least 3 years of experience in Marine HR, gained either onboard ships or in a shore-based marine HR role.
• Strong knowledge of Fleet Marine HR processes and maritime operations, including STCW and MLC requirements.
• Good command of written and spoken English, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email systems.
• A genuine appreciation for working within culturally diverse environments, with the ability to engage effectively across global manning offices.
• Prior sailing experience with EPS is preferred but not mandatory.
• Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom. This role does not qualify for visa sponsorship.
