Job summary

BBGC seeks an experienced Marine Business Analyst in Singapore to connect marine data with delivery teams and drive analytics from data lakehouse projects. You will translate business needs into technical requirements and coordinate Agile delivery across diverse stakeholders.

The role involves applying marine and dry bulk shipping knowledge to data initiatives, validating sources, and collaborating with data scientists to produce actionable insights using SQL and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Define problem statements; elicit, analyse and document requirements for developers.

We are currently looking for an experienced Marine Business Analyst to join our team in Singapore.

The Marine Data & Business Analyst connects marine, data and delivery teams. The role supports the movement of data from multiple sources into the Marine data lakehouse, analyses and automates large datasets, translates business needs into technical requirements, and coordinates Agile delivery across diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply marine and dry bulk shipping knowledge across vessels, voyages, ports, cargoes, bunkers and voyage operations.
• Partner with the in-house data team to map, validate and transfer marine data from multiple source systems into the Marine data lakehouse.
• Work with data scientists to identify and collate relevant prediction inputs (independent variables) and target outcomes (dependent variables) for Marine use cases.
• Use SQL and other analytical tools to interrogate large datasets, identify data issues and produce clear, actionable insights.
• Define problem statements; elicit, analyse and document business requirements; and translate them into clear functional and technical requirements for developers.
• Manage delivery timelines, risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies, escalating constraints and driving actions to closure.
• Explore practical applications of marine technology and AI to improve productivity, decision-making and operational processes.
• Build constructive relationships with internal stakeholders who have competing priorities and facilitate outcomes that balance business and technical needs.
• Work with developers and business users through Agile delivery, including backlog refinement, user stories, acceptance criteria, testing and implementation.

Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of marine and dry bulk shipping processes and terminology.
• Proven data analysis capability, with hands-on SQL experience and confidence interpreting large, complex datasets.
• Strong experience with data integration, data quality management, data lakes, or similar enterprise data environments.
• Business analysis experience, translating functional requirements to technical teams.
• Experience delivering technology or data outcomes using Agile ways of working.
• Sound project management discipline across schedule, risk, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
• Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Interest in data science, predictive analytics and marine technology.
