Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer to own and drive test strategy for AI hardware systems across EVT to production ramp. You will partner with hardware design, diagnostics/software, and manufacturing teams to create robust, scalable test solutions that improve yield and production readiness.

You will review data, debug failures, and help ensure test readiness for new product introductions, while balancing coverage, test time, and cost in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing test engineering or related hardware test roles.
• Experience with ICT/structural board test, board-level functional test, tray/system-level testing, and production diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the manufacturing test strategy for boards, trays, and system-level hardware across EVT, DVT, PVT, and production ramp.
• Develop and manage test coverage for ICT, FCT, tray-level, and system-level manufacturing test.
• Review test scripts, diagnostics, and failure isolation needs; debug hooks and production screening strategies.
• Translate engineering requirements into scalable test plans balancing coverage, test time, and throughput.
• Collaborate with contract manufacturers, JDMs, system integrators, and equipment vendors to deploy test stations and automation.
• Review test results, logs, yield trends, and Pareto analyses to drive corrective actions.
• Lead or support debug of test failures across design, process, fixture, software, or operator variation.
• Drive continuous improvement of test processes and readiness for new product introductions.
