Job summary

The Perse School Singapore is seeking a committed Mandarin Teacher to join from August 2027, teaching Mandarin to Primary and Senior School cohorts across a diverse, multicultural environment.

Early Career Teachers are welcome, and leadership paths such as Subject Leads or Year Leaders may be available for suitably experienced staff. A safeguarding-aware, collaborative culture underpins all activities and development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field with a recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, PGDE, PGCEi, NIE Diploma, or equivalent).
• At least 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in the United Kingdom or a UK/IB curriculum international school setting.
• Strong understanding of the International Cambridge or English National Curriculum for primary and/or secondary programmes.
• Experience of supporting students where English may be an additional language.
• The ability to engage, motivate and inspire students through exceptional subject knowledge, high standards & expectations, challenging lessons and differentiated learning opportunities.
• Ability to contribute to school life beyond the classroom, including trips, clubs, and cultural events.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan and facilitate highly effective and engaging Mandarin lessons across cohorts.
• Ensure lessons provide suitable stretch, challenge and support, ensuring all students make progress in lessons.
• Assess and monitor student attainment and progress, providing timely and developmental feedback.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment.
• Uphold the nurturing ethos and actively contribute to the pastoral care provision.
• Participate actively in the extracurricular activities programme.
• Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
• Stay updated on new teaching methodologies and educational technologies.
• Uphold Perse School (Singapore) values and safeguarding responsibilities.
