Job description

What the role is

The Innovation Office helps the Health Promotion Board identify, explore and shape innovation opportunities that can transform and strengthen how we engage citizens and improve population health. Reporting to the Tech Ecosystem Lead, this role supports the technology-facing aspects of IO's mandate. The officer will help scan and curate emerging technologies, maintain the Tech Horizon site, coordinate ecosystem engagements, and support the sensemaking and partnership brokering needed to connect external capabilities with HPB's needs. The role requires strong research, coordination and communication skills, with the ability to organise information, capture insights from engagements and support multiple opportunities as they develop.

What you will be working on

Support technology scanning and research

  • Conduct desktop research on emerging health, wellness, digital health, AI and related technologies relevant to HPB priorities.
  • Monitor developments across technology companies, startups, research institutions, government agencies and relevant innovation ecosystems.
  • Prepare concise technology scans, partner profiles, background research and briefing materials for internal discussion and stakeholder engagements.

Maintain and update HPB’s new intranet microsite on health technologies and partners

  • Curate and update technology scans, partner information, engagement records and relevant learnings on the intranet.
  • Ensure that information remains accurate, current, well-organised and useful to HPB teams. This includes liaising with relevant colleagues to check on the progress of ongoing partner discussions and trials.
  • Support the development of clear, accessible content that encourages staff to explore technologies, partners and innovation opportunities.

Coordinate stakeholder and ecosystem engagements

  • Coordinate meetings with internal stakeholders and external parties such as technology companies, startups, research institutions, and other government agencies.
  • Prepare meeting materials, manage scheduling and logistics, take clear notes and track follow-up actions.
  • Maintain organised records of key contacts, engagements, discussion points and next steps.

Support sensemaking and partnership brokering

  • Consolidate observations across technology scans, meetings and stakeholder discussions to identify recurring themes, needs and opportunity areas.
  • Support the Tech Ecosystem Lead in connecting relevant external capabilities and partners to HPB problem or opportunity statements.
  • Conduct background research and preliminary due diligence on prospective partners, and track promising opportunities through early-stage discussions.
  • Prepare concise summaries and materials to support internal alignment and decisions on possible next steps.

Support conferences, trade shows and ecosystem outreach

  • Identify relevant trade shows, conferences, innovation platforms and industry events for IO to attend, contribute to or present at.
  • Support the preparation of presentations, showcase materials and briefing packs on IO's health technology innovation achievements, learnings and upcoming plans.
  • Coordinate participation arrangements and capture relevant insights, contacts and follow-up opportunities arising from these engagements.

Workstream coordination and reporting

  • Track activities, deliverables and follow-up actions across the workstream, and provide regular updates on progress and emerging opportunities.
  • Provide coordination and administrative support to keep technology scanning, stakeholder engagements and partnership discussions moving.
  • Work closely with other team members and HPB colleagues to support a connected innovation pipeline, streamlining similar efforts where possible.
What we are looking for
  • At least 3-4 years of relevant experience in research, innovation, strategy, partnerships, business development, programme coordination or ecosystem engagement.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise information from different sources into concise and practical insights.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently, coordinate multiple workstreams and follow through on details.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear meeting notes, briefs and presentations.
  • Good internal and external stakeholder management skills, with confidence in coordinating engagements across different teams and organisations.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies and the ability to relate technology developments to organisational needs and public health opportunities.
  • Experience maintaining knowledge repositories, websites or collaboration platforms such as SharePoint will be an advantage.
  • Prior experience in healthcare, digital health, innovation ecosystems, technology scouting, research or public-sector work will be an advantage.

Successful candidates will be offered a 1-year contract.
