Job summary

Tempserv Pte Ltd is seeking a hands-on Equipment / Automation Engineer to support troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrade of vacuum and sputter systems in a manufacturing environment. The role covers in-house servicing and overhaul of critical components, with emphasis on improving cost efficiency, turnaround time, and equipment reliability.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting vacuum and sputter equipment, performing RCAs, in-house overhauls of disk rotation mechanisms and rotary magnet

Qualifications

• Diploma / Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering (Entry candidates with relevant experience are welcome to apply).
• 2–5 years’ experience in manufacturing / semiconductor equipment with PLC troubleshooting/programming experience and pump maintenance, overhaul, or refurbishment (regeneration) experience will be preferred.
• Able to read electrical diagrams and perform wiring work.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues, including vacuum systems, sputter machines, and motion systems.
• Perform in-house servicing and overhaul for disk rotation mechanisms and rotary magnet cathodes; reduce OEM dependency.
• Execute equipment upgrades and wiring/IO mapping with minimal downtime.
• Support PLC systems (Mitsubishi preferred) and data integration (OPC/SQL).
• Analyze equipment performance (Excel/SQL/logs) and develop simple monitoring tools (Python).

Job description

A hands-on Equipment / Automation Engineer to support troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrade of vacuum and sputter systems in a manufacturing environment. This role includes in-house servicing and overhaul of critical components, with a strong focus on improving cost efficiency, turnaround time, and equipment reliability.

Equipment Troubleshooting & Maintenance

• Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues, including:
  • Vacuum systems (TMP, gauges, pumps)
  • Sputter machines (Anelva or equivalent preferred)
  • Motion systems (motors, drivers)
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions

In-house Overhaul & Servicing (Key Focus)

• Perform in-house servicing and overhaul for:
  • Disk rotation mechanisms (units, bearings, seals, alignment)
  • Rotary magnet cathodes (disassembly, inspection, rebuild, balancing)
• Reduce dependency on OEM by:
  • Reverse engineering parts where feasible
  • Developing internal procedures and standards
• Ensure:
  • Consistent overhaul quality
  • Reduced cost and turnaround time
  • Proper documentation and repeatability

Retrofit & Upgrade Projects

• Execute equipment upgrades, including:
  • Motor/driver replacement (e.g. Oriental Motor AZ series, inverter upgrades)
  • Sensor replacement and signal integration
• Prepare:
  • Wiring diagrams (before/after)
  • IO mapping (PLC equipment)
• Ensure minimal downtime during implementation

PLC & Automation Support

• Support PLC systems (Mitsubishi preferred):
  • IO troubleshooting
  • Minor logic modifications
• Support data integration:
  • OPC / data logging / SQL systems

Data & Continuous Improvement

• Analyze equipment performance (Excel / SQL / logs)
• Develop simple monitoring/improvement tools (Python preferred)
• Drive improvements in cost, reliability, and maintainability

Requirements:
