Job Summary
We are looking for a M&E Engineer /M&E Design Engineer to support the planning, design, coordination and implementation of mechanical and electrical engineering works for semiconductor-related projects and facilities construction.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, suppliers and clients to ensure that M&E systems are properly designed, coordinated and implemented in accordance with project requirements, technical specifications and relevant standards.
This role requires a technically competent and hands‑on individual who is able to understand engineering drawings, coordinate multiple disciplines, identify design or site issues, and provide practical engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
M&E Design & Engineering
- Prepare, review and coordinate mechanical and electrical engineering designs for semiconductor facilities and industrial projects.
- Develop and review M&E layouts, schematics, engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Perform basic engineering calculations, equipment sizing and system selection where required.
- Ensure M&E designs are aligned with project requirements, specifications and applicable codes and standards.
- Coordinate M&E designs with architectural, structural and other engineering disciplines.
- Identify potential design clashes and propose practical solutions.
Project & Site Coordination
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, suppliers and other project stakeholders on M&E-related matters.
- Attend project meetings, site inspections and technical discussions when required.
- Review site conditions and provide technical recommendations to resolve M&E issues.
- Monitor the installation and implementation of M&E systems to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues during construction, installation, testing and commissioning.
- Follow up on outstanding technical issues and ensure timely resolution.
Semiconductor / Cleanroom Environment
- Support M&E engineering works associated with semiconductor manufacturing facilities, cleanrooms and other controlled environments.
- Coordinate systems and services that may include HVAC, cleanroom systems, electrical distribution, process utilities and other facility-related M&E services.
- Understand the importance of cleanroom requirements, environmental control, reliability and operational continuity within semiconductor facilities.
Documentation & Technical Support
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, drawings, reports and technical submissions.
- Review contractor and supplier technical submissions, shop drawings and material specifications.
- Assist with testing, commissioning and handover documentation.
- Provide technical support to the project team throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services, M&E Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is required, as the role involves regular communication with Mandarin-speaking stakeholders and workers.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant M&E engineering/design experience, preferably in industrial, semiconductor, cleanroom, manufacturing or high‑tech facilities.
- Experience in M&E design, engineering coordination and/or project execution.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and design software such as AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit/BIM would be an advantage.
- Good understanding of relevant engineering standards, codes and practices.
- Ability to read, interpret and review M&E drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong coordination and problem‑solving skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with consultants, contractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Able to work independently while also working effectively as part of a project team.
- Willingness to attend project sites and support project requirements when necessary.
